A seasoned Product Manager is needed by Sarnoff Corp. to manage the final stages of product development, initial deployment, and support of an innovative iris scanning system used in security and access control applications. Sarnoff seeks a Product Manager with a track record of winning and delivering on government programs similar to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) programs. The Product manager should possess a history of selling products to government agencies in a competitive fixed price environment. In addition the Product Manager should have a demonstrated track record in establishing and sustaining commercial distribution of new products.

At Sarnoff, the Product Manager is the primary Business Manager for the product line. He/She will direct and fund through programs and investment engineering, manufacturing, and Customer support activities for release of the product into production, oversee the product's initial deployment, and on-going support. The Candidate leads Business Development, Sales, and Marketing activities to identify market opportunities, develop customer requirements, and to put into practice plans to realize potential revenue streams. The Product Manager will have the P&L responsibility for the product line including program bookings, product sales, COGS, and profit/loss.


Responsibilities:

Primary responsibility for this position is to provide the business and technical management for the product line. The responsibilities for this position include leading the product definition effort, building and maintaining Product Roadmaps, developing and maintaining strategic plans driven by market and customer requirements. The candidate is required to articulate business objectives to senior management, and lead activities that result in revenue growth in the product line. He/She will implement and drive the sales plan, define processes, procedures and templates in a "Best Practices" environment. In addition, He/She will have responsibilities that include quality of installations, service, project costs, training, and developing operations personnel. He/She will ensure products are under configuration control and HW/SW releases follow strict disciplines and processes.

The Candidate will develop logistics and life cycle management processes, collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality departments to develop and refine quality control processes, develop budgets and financial reporting processes, and work with Contracts department to develop and execute teaming agreements, subcontracts, and vendor control processes.

In addition the Candidate has full financial and P&L responsibility for the product line. This includes identifying and obtaining outside funding to drive product development and deployment, obtain and direct internal investment for product development, direct standard product sales, and manage internal overhead and COGS.


Qualifications:

BS degree in Engineering or Science required. MBA or MS/PhD desired. 10 years of relevant experience in developing, installing and supporting highly engineered products, preferably in the area biometrics, access control, or security systems, plus 5+ years of product management experience. Experience in managing program budgets or a product P&L in excess of 10M per year in revenue per year is desired.

Candidate must have experience with access control solutions, security systems integration and support requirements, information management systems, and knowledge of the identity and access management marketplace. He/She must have background in core technologies utilized in access control or biometric systems.

The Candidate must have experience in managing and coordinating Change Management activities, working in an ISO environment, can demonstrate evidence of translating customer requirements & needs into new features and services, and show written samples of product specifications.

He/She must be versant with computers and application SW, be analytical, logical and fact-oriented with the ability to think strategically and act tactically. The ability to work effectively in a functional matrix with all levels of individuals from entry level technicians to executives and dignitaries is highly valued. This is a position for a highly self motivated individual with a flexible, reliable, and strong work ethic, and is a dependable team player, with a positive, constructive, attitude.

Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance at a minimum.
