Background
Established in 1972 this company has grown to over 90 members consisting of owners and contractors in the electrical power sector. They currently negotiate and administer 19 collective agreements for construction on the property of Ontario Power Generation, Bruce Power and Hydro One. It was originally established as a part of Ontario Hydro and a few contractors who worked on their sites. Today it is an independent organization with staff reporting to a board of directors elected by our members. Our client provides advice to employers with regard to the interpretation of collective agreements and represents employers in the resolution of grievances. When matters are not resolved and are referred to the Ontario Labour Relations Board, our client works with employers in mediation meetings, and finally with legal counsel, at arbitration before the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
Posting
Reporting to the General Manager the Administrative Assistant will provide support to the labour relations process as well as perform all the day to day office functions. This will include bookkeeping, reception, scheduling, filing, minute taking, and all other administration functions. The position will be responsible to support the office in providing service to our members and working with industry partners.
Qualifications
Experienced in bookkeeping preferably with QuickBooks will consider Simply Accounting Excellent written and verbal communications skills Excellent computer skills with extensive experience with all Microsoft programs Advanced skill working with Excel Payroll experience Preference given to candidates with experience with wage schedules Highly organized and an ability to multi task Experience with IT and troubleshooting with office technology Ability to keep all information centralized and accessible to all staff Ability to work varied hours as needed Knowledge of construction and/or labour relations would be an asset not mandatory Working knowledge of collective agreements Ability to lift and move files and other office material as needed Ability to work independently and problem solve Due to our location and
