Assistant Controller
Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller who will assist the controller in directing the organization's accounting functions. These functions include establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures. The candidate oversees the preparation and evaluation of budgets and other financial operating reports, and presents findings and recommendations to top management. They must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. The candidate relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. The Assistant Controller leads and directs the work of others.
Main Duties: * Manage overall accounting functions including General Ledger, A/R, A/P, and Payroll * Assist the Controller to ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close * Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial reporting statements and compilation of quarterly and annual external reporting requirements * Assist in the month end closing process including monthly journal entries, account analysis, reconciliation and review * Assist with quarterly review and annual audit preparation * Manage critical accounting policies and procedures * Collaborates with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives * Recommend process enhancements and efficiencies around general accounting practices and procedures * Monitors and analyzes department work flow to develop and implement more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy * Direct the accounting team to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met * Provide training and support to new and existing accounting staff of accounting concepts, practices and procedures * Manage chart of accounts and department structure based on financial reporting structures * Assist the Controller in the daily banking requirement
