Description

Working as an Engineer III Radio Frequency, you will be considered as a senior level engineer and will be required to demonstrate strong technical and troubleshooting skills with Ericsson GSM/UMTS technologies. Strong initiative and the ability to work independently with some direction (as required) as you will be working on complex system performance, voice and data performance optimization, traffic engineering, transmission, equipment, and/or RF design activities. Performs network metric analysis and provides recommendations to facilitate network improvements. Strong communication, leadership and computer skills required.
This will include, but is not limited to, Resolving Consumer and Enterprise trouble tickets, performing analysis on network performance and determining resolution, coordinating with other organizations on achieving resolution. Timely reporting of issues and trend determination, Drive testing for performance evaluation, and communicating directly with customers. Position will require operation of various computer modeling tools, test equipment, mapping skills,
trouble analysis. Also requires a high degree of adaptability to changing priorities and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Engineer will manage the end-to-end performance of the Ericsson GSM and Ericsson UMTS systems for the Northern California submarket but may be called upon to assist neighboring markets.
Additional Responsibilities:
Design, test, measure and/or evaluate the wireless systems and/or equipment to achieve optimal performance
Provide a high level of technical guidance and leadership and be required to recommend, develop, and implement complex changes and additions to the system as well as develop documentation
The Engineer III RF position is a non-supervisory position, however, you may take lead on several project teams.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Previous experience in GSM & UMTS RF troubleshooting.
Commands to Check RF parameters for Voice and Data performance on GSM Voice and Data (EDGE) on Ericsson 2G System
Troubleshoot 3G WCDMA system using Ericsson OSS, KPIs, and MOShell commands
Strong RF fundamentals required for troubleshooting RBS hardware through alarm investigation
In depth technical understanding and use of RF and Cell site testing tools (HP Analyzers, Tektronix), drive test equipment such as X-TEL, TEMS and Agilent and post processing tools such as Actix (operation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting).
Strong knowledge of RF transmission principles, antenna theory, modulation, and multiplexing techniques
Knowledge of RF and propagation principles and Ericsson GSM/UMTS systems.
In-depth technical understanding and hands on experience of RF propagation tools such as Atoll, MapInfo and Automated cell Planning (ACP) tool
GSM/UMTS BTS and Node B RF components and capabilities (power amplifiers, combiners, duplexers), single band and dual band RF installation architecture (feeders, antennas, TMAs, diplexers)
Knowledge of spectrum analyzer functionality and operation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are also required.
BSEE/BSEET or equivalent work experience of 3-5 years in RF design, network performance, or related field work relevant RF 1900/850MHz
Desired Qualifications:
Experience with Ericsson Technology
Database experience is a plus e.g. Remedy
SQL/PL, programming, and scripting skill are a plus
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
Three to Five years of wireless experience
