Business Analyst - Underwriting

Summary of Responsibilities:
Improve the Life Insurance underwriting process for consumers and associates by assessing and measuring the process, developing and reporting on key productivity and quality metrics, monitoring performance, prioritizing and implementing process improvements.  Coordinate information flow between call centers and underwriting and Director of Case Management Operations. Facilitate the development of customer facing applications to improve visibility into the underwriting process.

1. Optimize performance of underwriting and case management staff and processes and ensure capacity in place to efficiently handle current and planned sales volumes.

2. Coordinate activity between direct sales centers - including online and call center - and MetLife underwriting to ensure precise quotes, effective communication, and fast underwriting decisions.

3. Identify, develop and monitor productivity and quality performance metrics for case management and underwriting groups

4. Develop solutions that identify gaps between existing and proposed tracking in order to drive optimization reporting needs.

5. Coordinate partnerships between Underwriting and External partners (paramed, APS vendors) to optimize performance and maintain cost discipline.

Job Requirements

• 5 + years of experience
• Life Insurance underwriting experience
• Process improvement
• Knowledge of underwriting management software applications
• Negotiating with vendors/consultants
• Advanced proficiency in Excel.  Ability to synthesize and analyze large sets of data to yield actionable findings.

• Analytic reasoning capabilities and data mining and/or business intelligence experience beneficial.
• Inductive and deductive reasoning skills
• BA/BS required
