Business Intelligence Specialist/ Reporting
Kelly IT Resources is seeking a Business Intelligence Specialist to strategically design and implement BI reports, and software, including integration with databases and data warehouses. The Business Intelligence Specialist is also responsible for ensuring high levels of BI availability through support functions and in-depth testing. Understand data created in a source data base that is transformed and move to a data warehouse.
JOB DUTIES • Develops and designs reports utilizing a report design tool that interfaces into SQL. • Produces ETL design guidelines to ensure a manageable ETL infrastructure for the BI system. • Troubleshoot BI tools, systems, and software; performance-tune these applications as necessary. • Coordinates and prepares reports for internal and external clients; review accuracy and resolves issues when necessary; recommends improvements for procedures and processes. • Assists in upgrading reports and programs used to collect data and share data. • Establish schedules; monitors projects to ensure deadlines are met; reviews completed tasks and check them for quality and accuracy and makes necessary adjustments. • Forms partnerships with other departments to ensure external and internal client needs are being addressed. • Continues to familiarize self with new upgrades and features of the reporting system(s) in order to leverage the technology and upgrade Adelman 's end product. • Detailed focus and the ability to analyze existing processes; from this analyze create clear and concise reports; visually, dimensionally. • Develops the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions. • Assists in the design of databases and data warehouses to ensure interoperability with BI solutions.
JOB REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Computer Science or equivalent from four-year college or university; or four plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Superior problem solving and analytical skills • Proven strong working abilities with Microsoft SQL (2000 or 2005 preferred), • Strong working knowledge with TSQL statements and functions. • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Basic working knowledge of Word and Excel • Knowledge of Cognos or similar system is a PLUS!
