HNTB is currently seeking a Chief Information Officer, to lead its IT strategy development and implementation. In this hands-on strategic role, the CIO will provide business and technology vision and leadership in the selection, implementation and support of organization-wide information services for HNTB Corporation. There will be a heavy focus on the development, implementation and execution of the information technology strategic plan for the firm. HNTB is seeking a strong leader whose IT vision will integrate with the firm’s overall plan to provide us with a competitive advantage in the years ahead.

The CIO leads a large team responsible for the implementation of related technology services, including but not limited to Infrastructure and Internal Support, Programming and Development, and managing outside vendor resources.
You will report directly to our Executive Vice President, Corporate Development
Responsibilities:


* Actively contribute to and participate in HNTB”s corporate strategic planning process.
* Provide input and counsel to senior management regarding optimum utilization of Information Technology resources as a means to achieve HNTB’s strategic objectives.
* Lead deployment of HNTB’s IT Strategy in support of HNTB’s near term and long term business and strategic goals and objectives.
* Foster alignment around firm-wide IT objectives by establishing and leveraging effective business partnerships with line leadership and peers.
* Lead the development of HNTB’s IT Strategic Plan consistent with HNTB”s corporate plan and HNTB”s IT Vision
* Provide leadership in the establishment of multi-year technology systems and development priorities for the company.
* Evaluate and recommend future investment direction for HNTB Business Systems and Infrastructure consistent with the IT Strategic Plan
* Define the appropriate operational framework for services provided by HNTB and those provided by partners.
* Proactive assessment of IT capacity and capability to address HNTB business needs and drive efficiency in our operations.
* Implement an effective approach for achieving broad organizational understanding and buy-in to IT related priorities and direction through established governance model.
* Establish policies, standards, best practices and security measures to ensure effective and consistent information processing operations, to achieve full regulatory compliance and to safeguard the information resources.
* Develops metrics and benchmarks to measure success of IT Strategic Plan.
Basic Qualifications:


Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a reputation for leadership, vision, mentoring and development, consensus-building and collaboration, outstanding customer service, and experience in leading and developing information technology capabilities (i.e., enterprise system initiatives). Further, we are looking for the ideal candidate to have a business case orientation relative to IT, the ability to distill and communicate complex issues and experience in the management of a large complex budget.
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related area required.
* MBA is preferred.
* 15+ years of progressive technology experience to include previous CIO experience required.
* An executive IT leadership position at a multi-billion dollar firm could substitute for previous CIO experience.
* 5+ years experience creating and executing IT vision and strategy.
* 5 or more years supervisory experience.
* Strong communications, interpersonal, and negotiation skills are essential.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities such as new service projects, system upgrades, implementations, assimilations and conversions of multiple systems, while establishing realistic deadlines, meeting them, and staying within budget.
* Prior demonstrated success at developing and cultivating a dynamic progressive technology organization.
* Must have a proven track record of leadership in attracting, developing and retaining talented staff who deliver results.
* Must have a proven track record in successfully establishing and maintaining effective client relations and peer relationships.
* Experience in coordinating with and providing support to an R&D office highly desired.
* Knowledge of Patent processes and management strategies desirable.
* Travel required up to 30%.
* Relocation to Kansas City highly desired - Kansas City is The HNTB Companies Corporate Headquarters.
