Title: Computer Operator
Location: Norfolk, Virginia
Description: Monitor a variety of IT platform servers running various operating systems (Unisys MCP, IBM AIX, MS, XP, 2000). Systems are location both on site and at remote data centers. Problem determination and first level trouble shooting. Escalation of problems and notification of on call analysts.
Purge, load, label and rotation of all backup tapes from various servers.
Process and initiate run schedules and EDI sessions. Processing all inbound company orders and outgoing shipping notifications.
Responsible for ?Help Desk? calls for all company users. All requests from users for support or problem resolution originate from the ?Help Desk?. First line support on all user calls.
Education: Associate level college degree (Information Technology or equivalent) preferred
Experience: JOB REQUIREMENTS:
In depth experience with the following software products:
MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, & Access)
MS Exchange 2003 and Administration
Windows XP, Windows 2000 Server/Workstation, Windows Server 2003
Experience with a wide variety of hardware products including:
Enterprise Server Operations (prefer Unisys Clearpath and IBM AIX experience)
Personal Computers
Printers (Laser, InkJet and Dot Matrix)
Modem and communication devices
Scanners, Tape Drives and CD ROM Drives
Experience working over a wide area network (WAN) would be a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills and enjoy helping others solve problems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
2+ years of IT experience
