Description
Our client is a small, privately-held, profitable company about to enter a period of significant growth. They are seeking a creative and dynamic controller who can help them scale to the next level.
SUMMARY
Provide leadership and coordination of company financial planning; financial reporting, and budget management functions. Ensure company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ensure accounting systems and controls are in accordance with applicable provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley
SUPERVISION
Responsible for hiring, managing, evaluating and mentoring accounting and administration staff. This includes promoting opportunities for knowledge sharing and skill building across the department that develops talent at all levels and optimizing organizational performance by ensuring that processes are in place to attract and retain top talent. Will work in conjunction with the CFO,CEOCOO, and Vice President to achieve the corporate vision.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES.
* Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
* Coordinate and monitor debt financing reporting and other related agreements and debt service payments with external agencies.
* Supervise and coordinate daily operations of the finance department.
* Prepare monthly financial statements
* Maintain the general ledger, including reconciliation and reporting
* Manage the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts with direction and assistance from CFO.
* Prepare requested financial analysis reports for contract negotiations and investment decisions for review and presentation by CFO.
* Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting and tax requirements.
* Work with department managers and corporate staff to implement five year and ten year business plans for the company developed by CFO.
* Work with CFO to establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures, including maintaining adequate staffing levels.
* Serve on planning and policy-making committees.
* Serve as primary legislative liaison relative to company financial issues.
* Coordinate financial audits and implement recommended procedural or control improvements.
* Conduct weekly/monthly staff meetings.
* Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* Represent the company externally to media, government agencies, funding agencies, and the general public.
* Train, supervise, and evaluate department staff.
KNOWLEDGEANDSKILL REQUIREMENTS
* Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of federal and state financial and tax regulations. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Working knowledge of short and long term budgeting and forecasting models.
* Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
* Combination of the completion of a Bachelors or Masters Degree in Finance or Accounting, minimum of ten years of experience in senior-level finance or accounting position, and a CPA.
* Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule. Experience in a rapid-growth company a plus.
