Work with the technology you need to succeed... our client's Information Systems sector is seeking a SQL Database Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Atlanta, GA. The qualified applicant will become part of our client's team which supports the Coordinating Center for Infectious Disease (CCID) Informatics Strategic Science and Program Unit (SSPU) projects servicing National Center for HIV, Hepatitis, and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (NCHHSTP)/Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (DHAP). Role and Responsibilities: Provide operational DBA services to manage and maintain multiple (numerous) SQL Server databases for eHARS and NDPI systems. Develop, implement and maintain effective database management, backup and restore strategies at CDC in Atlanta and in US states. These databases are in both development and production environments. Frequently interact with numerous, multidisciplinary staff from the Qualitative Sciences and Data Management Branch (QSDMB) and contractors supporting DHAP. Define and implement appropriate SQL Server database administration best practices all across SQL Server systems. Needs to include SQL Server 2005. implement, configure, and troubleshoot database instances, replication, backup, partitions, storage, and access. Monitor and optimize system performance using index tuning, disk optimization, and other methods. Set user privileges within database environment. Provide database related technical support developers and network engineers. Hours: 8am to 5pm
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: Must hold BA/BS degree with 8-10 years of relevant work experience. MS/MA/MBA/MPH desired. Must have experience in managing complex production databases. Experience in installation, upgrade, and maintenance of the SQL Server databases; planning and execution of database backup and recovery; databases tuning for performance and stability, and database security implementation and monitoring. Must be able to install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot, and maintain a database system in a Microsoft environment. Detailed understanding of relational database modeling concepts and general RDBMS theory, detailed knowledge of and the ability to efficiently create and execute SQL, DDL, DCL, and DML statements, as well as use of Primary Keys, Unique Keys, Foreign Keys, Triggers, Stored Procedures, DTS packages, SSIS ? SQL Server Integration Services, Normalization, and entity relationship diagrams. Proficiency with developing and maintaining productive working relationships with multidisciplinary staff from different organizations/agencies. Good oral and written communication skills, particularly with multidisciplinary staff from different organizations/agencies. Additional Qualifications: Experience work in HIV/STD public health. SQL Server Tools experience. SQL Language experience. Rational Product Suite experience. Data Security experience. Visual SourceSafe experience. Data Modeling Tool (ErWin or ER Studio) experience.
