Role Description
You will be assisting Defined Contribution Group Account Managers (VP, Director, Managing Director) in attracting, retaining and growing new and existing institutional defined contribution clients within the Defined Contribution Institutional Sales Group at BlackRock. The Defined Contribution group is housed within the Global Client Group (GCG), BlackRock’s largest strategic business channel in terms of net new revenue growth (sales), assets under management and existing revenue (retention). Defined Contribution is a key initiative for BlackRock in 2010. You will be working within a team environment with several managers and associates, as well as product strategists, portfolio managers, and researchers.
Your Responsibilities
· Maintain intensive and extensive telephone and written contact with clients and prospects. · Field, respond, and accommodate day-to-day client and prospects’ requests regarding procedures, funding activities, billing issues, contractual issues, and new assets. · Track activities and maintain contact information in CRM. · Coordinate and structure presentation materials for client and prospect meetings. · Assist DC Account Managers in developing consultative relationships with prospective clients; develop strong relationships with existing clients. · Leverage senior members of the team by marketing new strategies and responding to requests when senior managers are traveling. · Plan agendas for client and prospect meetings. · Coordinate (with the Consultant Relationship team), and execute investment management proposals, including formal RFPs, under tight deadlines. · Facilitate a new client's initial contribution along with the acquisition and maintenance of all necessary legal documentation for investment management services. · Provide support for DC Institutional Sales, and broader team, initiatives. · Support the DC Team’s integration efforts within GCG; develop strong relationships with Account Managers · Work on special projects as assigned. · Expand knowledge about products and services and sales techniques to provide consistently improved assistance. · Attend some prospective client meetings in house; limited travel.
Skills and requirements
· Has a BA/BS degree in related field (Economics, Finance or Accounting). · Has 3+ years of directly related experience - MBA or CFA is highly desirable. · Is motivated by sales and revenue retention. · Thrives in a fast-paced environment with a proactive, “can do” attitude. · Has exceptional written and verbal communication skills. · Has demonstrated analytical ability, maturity and judgment in dealing with institutional clientele. · Is organized and detail-oriented with strong time management skills. · Has high proficiency in Microsoft Office and an aptitude for learning new applications. · Has, or is willing to obtain, the series 7, 63, and 3 licenses. · Continuing education in finance, investments, and pension fund issues. · Strong understanding of customer focus. · Effective team player; able to work with people of all levels. · Has a high level of self-motivation, with strong integrity & ethics.
