Robert Half Finance and Accounting has partnered with an Irving services corporation to recruit a Director of Accounting. This position will report the Corporate Controller and will primarily be over revenue accounting, the billing function and sales administration/contracts. Responsibilities include performing a variety of complex accounting tasks, applying generally accepted accounting principals to the preparation and maintenance of accounting, financial, statistical, and/or technical reports. Areas of responsibility include billing customers timely and accurately, working closely with Operations, Accounts Receivable and IT to insure a quality product. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This is a responsible position that requires minimal supervision. Specifically this professional's duties include ensuring the proper billing of invoices; acting as the financial liaison between operating divisions and finance for billing; ensuring and performing account reconciliations on a monthly basis; ensure the running of all daily and end of the month reports relating to the Billing area; ensuring the proper file maintenance of documents for audit verification; ensuring that the Company, Divisional and Departmental Policies and Procedures are followed while continuing to develop new Departmental Policies and Procedures; working with customers on any issues needing to be resolved; supervising staff who will input and update product pricing based on customer contracts; assisting the Corporate Controller in preparation of special projects; participating in cross training within the department to provide employee development and advancement; and performing such other duties as may be assigned. Experience: At a minimum, the ideal candidate must have working knowledge of Accounting theories and practices and accepted office procedures; the ability to establish and maintain superior working relationships with customers, co-workers and the general public; ability to supervise a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy; ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions; ability to prepare financial and other records in a systematic, neat, legible manner; ability to understand and work with Oracle financial systems; ability to meet deadlines and be very responsive; and have the ability to improve processes/automation when appropriate following best practices. Candidate must have a degree in Accounting or computer science and must have 7+ Years accounting experience. CPA or CMA preferred. Must be an expert in Excel 2007; Oracle Financials experience a plus. Accessing data via SQL and Crystal Reports experience a plus and Electronic Bill Presentment knowledge a plus.
