Position Summary:
This position directs the operations and strategic planning of human resources, customer/patient services and financial management in supporting University of Utah goals and mission. The incumbent acts as a catalyst between departments, faculty, physicians and staff to ensure continuity and quality of service.
This position is not responsible for providing care to patients.
Essential Functions:
- Directs the development and implementation of human resource, customer services and financial objectives that are consistent with University of Utah goals and objectives. - Provides strategic direction by setting short and long-term goals; estimating budgetary requirements for staff, space and equipment planning. Implementing special projects and policies. - Forecasts capital and operating budget needs by evaluating and reporting on market sensitivity, financial analysis, and space utilization review. - Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through. - Oversees the analysis and determination of appropriate staffing levels to support customer needs. - Oversees all aspects of human resource management including recruitment and retention of assigned staff. - Ensures the competency of management and supervisory staff through on-going goal setting with staff and performance evaluations. - Markets and promotes new and existing programs and services to internal and external customers. - Participates in university-wide committees to establish customer services and administrative plans and policies. - Facilitates cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. - Demonstrated leadership, human relations, and effective communication skills. - Knowledge of hospital business operations and demonstrated strategic planning skills.
Qualifications: Required - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or related area, or equivalency. - Eight years of progressively more responsible management experience.
Preferred - Applicable supervisory training. - Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or related area.
