Director of Production
The Creative Group is seeking a Director of Production for one of their San Francisco clients, an interactive agency dedicated to the development of new-media communication solutions and software applications for the life science industry. In this role you will serve as the senior project lead for key client development efforts, and will be directly involved in delivering various interactive client programs and software products on time and on budget. In addition to being a significant individual contributor, s/he will also manage a growing team of producers (project managers) and contract staff. This person will be a key member of the companys extended leadership team and will play a major role in the evolution of the companys product line moving forward. The position will report to the Vice President - Production of the company.
Job Responsibilities: - Play a management / supervisor role and directly manage a growing team of producers/project managers (PMs) and other support staff. - Lead the team of Interactive Producers / PMs to ensure that projects are managed successfully (i.e., on time, on budget, high quality, smooth process, satisfied clients). - Create project management processes and procedures to standardize delivery efforts as the company grows. - Lead the internal resource management process for assigning resources to project teams across all projects in the company. - Work closely with the extended leadership to ensure the entire Production Team runs smoothly. - Support the companys new business development and sales efforts by providing scope and timeline guidance and budget estimates. - Play a hands-on senior project management role on a small number of strategic client programs. Work closely with cross functional teams of designers, developers, motion graphics artists, QA and other internal staff. - Develop detailed project plans and timelines using a web-based project management tool similar to Microsoft Project. - Participate in regular communications with clients to ensure clear understanding of customer needs and requirements over the course of projects. - Continually communicate project status to internal stakeholders through various formal and informal mechanisms.
Critical Attributes: - At least 8-10+ years of technical production/web development/software development experience with roles of increasing responsibility (including direct line management). - Demonstrated experience managing development projects using the various web programming languages and technologies (e.g. HTML, XML, Flash, JavaScript, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, etc.), including back-end database (e.g. SQL). - Must have strong project management skills with the proven ability to multi-task. - A high-level of attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with and manage a wide variety of professional staff. - Experience in presenting to and interacting with senior management of client organizations. - Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. - Bachelors Degree required.
Other Highly Desirable Attributes: - Experience working within a leading interactive advertising agency or web development firm (e.g. Razorfish, Digitas, Modem Media, Sapient, AKQA, Carat, etc.). - Knowledge of 2D and 3D animation technologies and tools (e.g. Cinema 4D, Maya, Modo, SoftImage, etc.). - Experience or strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotech industries.
