Director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education, Administrator IV
(12 Months, Tenure-Track Position) ANTICIPATED STARTING DATE: October 2010 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in a related field, with at least four (4) years professional experience (including two years supervisory experience) in workforce development, corporate training, adult education and/or continuing education. Ability to interact with community and business leaders, and form strategic relationships with business and government agencies is essential. Commitment to diversity and to the mission of the comprehensive community college. Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, interpersonal and computer skills required. Applicants who do not have the minimum qualifications noted above may be considered for this position, by stating in writing, precisely how their experience has prepared them for the responsibilities of this position and by providing appropriate references. Exceptions to the degree requirements may be made for compelling reasons. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of Connecticut workforce development needs, particularly in the area of manufacturing technologies. This would include apprenticeship programs; corporate training practices and procedures; ISO 9001 competence, certification and training experience. Program/project management and cost/benefit analysis capabilities a plus. RESPONSIBILITIES: As a member of the President's Cabinet, the Director of Workforce Development and Continuing Education provides effective leadership, vision and strategic planning for the operations of the division and has the primary responsibility for Workforce and Community Development, Extension Credit and Prison Programs, the Center for Business and Industry and Special Events. Identifies the education and training needs of employers in the college's service area and delivers workforce development programs to meet those needs. MINIMUM SALARY: $73,914 approximate annual, plus State benefits package.
