Director, Operations (Sports Management/Operations)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following: (Other duties may be assigned)

Strategic Management

  • Participate as a member of the senior leadership team which develops and pursues the overall direction of the company and interfaces regularly with the company's key business partners and field leadership.
  • Translate strategic direction into clear, effective initiatives, timelines and measurable milestones.
  • Attract, recruit, motivate, lead, develop and retain a high performance management team, providing career development, mentoring, training and advancement of team members.
  • Establish clear organizational structures for the operations team, including responsibilities and accountabilities of individuals.
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day operations of the company to meet customer needs and optimize production efficiency, quality, safety, service levels and resource utilization.

    Collaborator and communicator

  • Set, communicate and oversee the overall company's retail strategy and initiatives to effectively achieve intended results.
  • Provide leadership in maintaining high quality, responsive communications to customers on planning, scheduling, quality and execution matters.
  • Represent the company and promote positive relations with customers, business partners and vendors. Assign or act as single point of contact in dealing with major customer projects and ongoing customer relations.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate, positive employee morale, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with human resources personnel to promote comprehensive resolution of employee or employment related issues, disputes or claims.
  • Provide communication to company personnel through weekly/monthly newsletter articles, presentations and other methods as appropriate.
  • Ensure effective internal communications both within the operations team and across the field and home office organization.

    Leader

  • Promote and lead continuous improvements in the execution processes, pursuing standardization, simplicity, accuracy, timeliness and integrity in material flow, manufacturing methods, staffing and customer service.
  • Drive the company to achieve and surpass business profitability, cash flow and growth goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and support for accurate management and measurement of materials usage throughout the operation.
  • Manage and analytical resource
  • Drive the company to achieve and surpass profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives, and maintain accountability for the effective financial management of the operations team.
  • Identify, quantify and achieve cost savings opportunities throughout the operation.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for safety, cost control, waste reduction, quality and on-time delivery.
  • Identify and follow through on opportunity to improve speed and throughput, decrease downtime and material usage and optimize staffing.
  • Establish subject matter expertise and trained resources to act as a value added partner to customers on materials, methods and equipment.
  • Serve as company leader for all activities when Sr. Vice President and Vice President are absent.

    Other Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Review and analyze activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine progress toward stated goals and objectives.
  • Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.
  • Drive initiatives in the management team and organizationally that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
  • Support field and home office teams to oversee new technology used for new or existing products or improvement to provide cost reduction, safety, customer requirements and market growth.

    Language skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret procedural documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write work instructions, results of analysis and routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees.

    Mathematical skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and statistical analysis.

    Reasoning ability:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to observe, examine and investigate events, outcomes and processes, develop insights and understanding of underlying causes and mechanisms and identify appropriate improvements, approaches and responses to them. Ability to understand, analyze and interpret financial and other data arising from the company's operations. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
