We are seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing, flexible and dedicated professional for the role of Director, Philanthropy & Partnerships in our Provincial Office in Calgary. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Fund Development, you will be primarily responsible for the strategic development of the major gifts fund development portfolio. This position will contribute to the development of the major gifts strategy including its implementation and integration into existing fund development programs throughout the Foundation. This position will also oversee fundraising functions across the Foundation, including annual giving, donor data and gift processing. In addition, this position will manage the HSFA bequest portfolio. Specific responsibilities include: - Contribute to the strategic development of increasing revenue in the areas of individual, corporate and workplace giving - Develop processes for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts associated with individuals, corporations and foundations - Manage a Foundation-wide portfolio of major gift prospects, develop customized strategies in consultation with the prospect manager and implement key actions to increase revenue - Manage portfolio of provincial office major gift prospects, develop customized stewardship strategies in consultation with the Vice President, Fund Development and appropriate volunteers - Develop strategies for area managers and mentor and support them in the implementation of the strategies to increase revenue in individual, corporate and workplace giving - Identify, analyze and maintain information on prospective donors, including individuals, organizations, and foundations - Develop annual short and long-term fund development plans for major gifts, including an annual budget, in order to ensure achievement of objectives - Develop new avenues for fund development initiatives within the corporate sector - Ensure the successful development and implementation of designated Foundation-wide events and fundraising campaigns within the corporate sector - Manage the HSFA bequest portfolio including development and maintenance of relationships with key stakeholders and allied professionals - Ensure that all programs and campaigns protect existing revenue while seeking new ways to expand the revenue base of the Foundation - Implement a plan to proactively develop new geographic areas through identification and expansion of new corporate supporters as well as event and promotional opportunities - Manage all major gift accounts - Assist in building/maintaining long term relationships with prospective and existing donors - Prepare and deliver proposals and presentations to major gift prospects and donors - Work closely and cooperatively with the CEO and the Board to ensure that fund development programs are delivered consistently - Help ensure the integrity, image, and quality of all campaigns and programs are consistent with the Foundation's mission, operating principles, and objectives as determined by its Board of Directors and through adherence to the Code of Ethics of Imagine Canada and the Foundation's own internal Code of Conduct. Skills and Qualifications include: - Bachelor's degree or higher education level in a relevant field of study - Eligibility for membership in Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) - Professional accreditation (CFRE) an asset - 5-7 years experience in a senior fundraising position with management experience - Experience working with senior level staff and volunteers is essential - Previous experience working in the non-profit sector and with a Board of Directors is an asset - Previous experience in a health sector with medical terminology is an asset - Existing positive networks within Alberta's fund development community - Demonstrated ability to successfully develop, solicit and maintain a portfolio of major donors within a team environment - Successful track record of fund development achievements that demonstrates revenue growth outcomes - Able to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with volunteers and donors - Highly developed ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously through demonstrated project and fund development competencies - Displays solid judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential/sensitive matters - Fully functional in all relevant Microsoft Office products - Excellent organizational and time management skills - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with the talent for communicating clearly, simply and concisely in a mature and professional manner - Sound decision-making, problem solving and research skills - Flexible/adaptable, able to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment; able to effectively manage a demanding schedule and prioritize responsibilities - Knowledgeable regarding Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Alberta Municipal Affair's regulations and guidelines regarding fundraising in Canada and specifically Alberta - Knowledge and experience with a donor management database system We offer a comprehensive compensation/benefits package, a professional working environment, and an opportunity to grow with an organization that is on its way to being the employer of choice in the not-for-profit sector .
