Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual who is energized by an entrepreneurial environment! Reporting to the Vice President of eCommerce Systems, the Director of Project Management is a key position at responsible for leading a team of technical project managers, business project managers, and system delivery managers for the eCommerce Systems (CSS) group at . The CSS group is responsible for all major initiatives with impact to product information systems, content management systems, digital asset management systems, marketing and marketing analytic systems, business intelligence reporting and planning reporting systems.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in successfully managing complex teams delivering software development projects. They must have a thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), and proven experience in iterative development/RAD methodologies. Practical experience working with the Agile framework is highly desirable. He or she will be adept in defining and implementing effective processes in project execution, and will have excellent communication and consensus building skills. Practical experience with various technology stacks is highly desirable.
Key Accountabilities:
Drive teams to execute and deliver: development roadmaps, project plans, project and iteration estimates, technical documentation, deliverable lists, project management process methodology, burn down and burn up charts, project budgets and forecasting, and the overall deployment of projects and releases.
Ensure project management creates and drives detailed communication plans.
Monitor team health and coach team members to optimally perform.
Accountable for staff budgeting, adjusting rolling forecasts and actual spend to alignment with finance deliverables.
Balance project time, resources and scope to ensure that projects support the business with a positive ROI and low risk of system failure.
Ability to assess the project and team needs in order to adjust resource plans as needed. Providing leadership and management to entire delivery team and stakeholders.
Provide a single point of coordination to gain executive sponsorship, streamline communication, ensure common understanding of development plans, facilitate portfolio change management, and implement tracking and status reporting for the CSS portfolio.
Align with peers in Development, Product Management, Program Management, Release Engineering, and Quality Assurance to avoid communication gaps and ensure consistency in delivery plans.
Provide vision for PM team growth in alignment with organizational goals.
Skills Summary:
Bachelor's degree in IT-related field or equivalent work experience
5 years of experience in software project management preferred
Experience in building and growing teams in a collaborative and team environment.
Strongly familiar with and ability to apply various software methodology approaches such as Agile, Waterfall, RUP, AgileFall, Kanban, or Test Driven Development.
Experience managing expense and payroll budgets.
Proven ability to gain respect from and lead software development teams.
Experience presenting to and working with senior management.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills required.
Excellent facilitation skills are required to drive resolution of complex business and technical problems associated with software development project efforts.
Experience with projects leveraging IBM Websphere, Information Management, and DB2 solutions
Experience in managing Project Managers or Project Leads that have direct reports for at least 2 years.
