Job Description

The Company:
Originally founded in 1979 as Information Resources, Inc.(IRI), SymphonyIRI Group is the world's leading innovative partner that helps clients transform insight into impact at every level of their organization across sales, marketing, merchandising, category/brand management and shopper marketing to achieve high performance and growth. Driving the transformation of the consumer packaged goods(CPG), retail, and healthcare industries, only SymphonyIRI has the unique offering of intelligent people with deep domain expertise across a variety of different industries and specialties, the innovative solutions powered by predictive analytical models and breakthrough information processing and business intelligence capabilities supported by revolutionary technology platforms and the integration of unrivaled empirical information on markets, consumers and shoppers from virtually any source to deliver new levels of performance and growth.

The company has been providing market solutions for CPG manufacturers and retailers for nearly 30 years. In late 2003, the company was acquired by the industry-visionary company Symphony Technology Group, run by Dr. Romesh Wadhwani. That acquisition has been the catalyst for a major transformation. Since the acquisition, the company has focused on changing the value proposition for its CPG, retail and healthcare clients by striving for a ten-fold increase in the value its clients realize from its market information, analytic, strategic consulting and decision support software solutions. To support these efforts, SymphonyIRI has been focused on developing predictive, on-demand analytic applications designed to empower manufacturers and retailers to manage their businesses for profitable growth.

Currently privately held, SymphonyIRI Holdings, Inc. serves as a holding company for the equity interests of SymphonyIRI shareholders. Symphony Technology Group, a leading provider of enterprise solutions that enable maximum business performance in the consumer products and retail industries, is the majority shareholder of SymphonyIRI Holdings. With its vast client base, Symphony enhances SymphonyIRI's collective powers of investment, industry expertise, research and development, global operations, and technology to address its clients' needs.

SymphonyIRI Panel:
The SymphonyIRI consumer household panel provides answers to who is buying, what they buy, where they buy, how often they buy and many more questions. SymphonyIRI integrates purchase data with pertinent information about consumers to provide decision-makers with a comprehensive view of the buying experience. SymphonyIRI builds on this foundation by creating "specialty panels" to capture the depth of insight required for clients to grow their business in certain high-value, hard-to-research consumer segments, categories and channels. Innovative research designs coupled with new recruitment and data collection technologies-specifically engineered to attract the right panelists and achieve the necessary compliance-are required for each of these "specialties".

Through the use of granular store-level POS and household panel data, SymphonyIRI is able to construct reports and automated analyses that address specific client business issues. SymphonyIRI has developed enabling technologies to construct these reports quickly and cost-efficiently. The majority of these reports are web-based to facilitate distribution and usage throughout today's organizations.

Reporting Relationship:
As a member of the CVS Client Service team, the Director, Panel Analytics will report directly to a Senior Vice President in the Consumer and Shopper Insights Group. The Senior Vice President reports to the Division President of the Consumer and Shopper Insights Group who reports to the CEO of SymphonyIRI.

Responsibilities:
The Director will occupy a newly created position that will capitalize on SymphonyIRI's growing relationship with CVS/Pharmacy. He/she will leverage a deep understanding of panel analytics incorporating traditional consumer & shopper behavioral metrics with strong segmentation/clustering skills to drive strategy-impacting projects across multiple business initiatives within Marketing and Marketing Insights.

The Director will work initially as an individual contributor. He/she will, however, work collaboratively across several internal SymphonyIRI functions to drive results. Key points of internal interface include the broader SymphonyIRI CVS/Pharmacy client team, the Modeling and Analytics Solutions group, and the Consumer & Insights Solutions Group.

Activities will vary, but approximately 75% of the Director's time will be allocated to providing clients with panel-based insights/solutions. Remaining time will be allocated to working within their client base to broaden and deepen relationships. Performance is primarily measured by the extent to which the Director cultivates deep client partnerships, delivers projects on-time, drives insights that anticipate or outpace industry trends and creates a broad sense of client satisfaction.

The Director will help to define and build a highly visible, newly created position on an initiative that serves as a platform for IRI, strategy and innovation. Accordingly, he/she will have exceptional opportunities to advance and grow within and across IRI functions.

Requirements:
· Six or more years of experience incorporating a working knowledge of panel and POS data-based applications. This experience may come from the CPG/FDM Retail-oriented environments below:
· A quantitative market research provider
· Manufacturer(preferably in Category Research, Brand Management or Consumer Insights)
· Custom research or survey house
· CRM/analytics practice within a top consulting company
· A working knowledge of consumer panel is necessary
· Highly consultative and analytical approach to problem solving; able to turn numbers into a story
· Passionate, energetic, self-motivated, entrepreneurial style
· Brilliant project management skills; proven ability to effectively self-prioritize goals/tasks and maintain focus in fast-changing, ambiguous environments
· Undergraduate degree is required. Advanced degree is a plus
