Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting
This position requires a professional with extensive financial reporting experience within a publicly-traded company, and who has worked in a Big 4 public accounting firm dealing with complex issues and transactions. The position is responsible for SEC reporting and filings and ensuring LeapFrog is in compliance with related regulations. Additionally, the position will research, analyze and implement new GAAP accounting standards and manage numerous special projects. This is a highly visible position with an excellent career path reporting directly to the VP, Corporate Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepares and manages quarterly Form 10-Qs, annual Form 10-Ks and assists with other special SEC filings. This includes the coordination of review and signoff on such filings by management, external auditors and the Audit Committee.
· Serves as a resource for researching and providing clear explanations and guidance for complex accounting issues as they arise throughout the organization. Interface with external independent auditors, as needed.
· Performs research, determines financial reporting and disclosure impact, ensures timely adoption, and prepares technical memos to support the Company's accounting treatment of newly issued accounting pronouncements.
· Assists in the coordination of annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors.
· Assist with maintenance of policies and procedures and related Section 404 Sarbanes Oxley documentation.
· Assists Investor Relations on corporate communications, analyst meetings, and press releases.
· Contributes to presentations for management and the Audit Committee, as appropriate. Attends Audit Committee meetings and leads the discussion related to the current draft filing.
· Manages relationships with various third party vendors.
· Contributes to department and organization special projects as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or a related field. A CPA certification is a requirement (Active status preferred).
· Must possess strong knowledge of SEC rules and regulations and U.S. accounting principles.
· 8-10 years of solid public company financial reporting or related experience, including both public accounting and industry experience.
· Experience in hiring, managing and developing direct reports.
· Ability to convey simple to complex financial information to individuals and groups.
· Act as an advisor on accounting issues to management, initiate work as a self-starter, learn quickly, work independently and motivate others.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organization and project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects are critical.
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to both lead and participate in change.
· Demonstrated ability to interface and collaborate.
· Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
· Ability to work closely with all major functional leaders of the Company including direct interaction with the highest management level and at the Audit Committee level of a corporation.
· Strong analytical skills, detail oriented.
· Proficiency in PC based software/windows applications such as Microsoft Office products - Excel, Microsoft Outlook. Experience with Oracle and COGNOS reporting a plus.
