Job Responsibilities ValueClick is comprised of a number of distinct business units (divisions) each overseen by a General Manager (GM) who reports into Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Each division is given a fair amount of autonomy to determine how it will manage it resources (business and technology) and how it will position its product offerings (feature set). ValueClick also has resources (business and technology) at the enterprise level which provide common services which all divisions leverage to their advantage. From a business perspective the Finance, Human Resources, Audit, and Facilities functions are centralized. Within technology Internal Office Automation, Production Collocation Center Management, Network Infrastructure, Operations Infrastructure functions are centralized. Certain strategic shared application logic has also been moved to a Corporate supported enterprise services; examples of such services are transaction correlation processing, behavioral targeting information, etc. This Senior Database Developer / Architect position is a member of the Corporate Technology team focused on supporting and enhancing the shared transaction correlation processing service. This service is an extremely high transaction count (several billion transactions per day) near real-time system and is a critical component in the delivery of ValueClick's products. . The Senior Database Developer / Architect reports directly to the Vice President. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Business Awareness . Coordinate with Product Management to establish future technology enhancement roadmap which yields revenue opportunities. . Understand the criticality of the service and corresponding performance and reliability requirements. . Appreciation for revenue / profit impact related to the application they are enhancing and maintaining. Development Oriented DBA responsibilities . Design and implement data structures which are scalable, maintainable, flexible, and reliable. . Manages database objects including tables, indexes, views, constraints, db links, jobs, snapshots, etc. . Write, review and deploys pl/sql code in test and production. . Develop monitoring processes (capacity, performance, consistency) to assure processing issues are identified and resolved swiftly. . Codes Unix shell scripts to maintain database administration batch jobs as necessary. . Maintain current database schema documentation and utilize source code control. Operational Oriented DBA responsibilities: . Provides daily (24x7) application level and database level operational support of production system. . Respond to and resolve afterhour's production issues related to technology areas this position is accountable for and can effect change on. . Coordinate with outsourced operational (24x7) database support team. . Assure key database performance and capacity metrics remain healthy with adequate excess capacity. . Coordinate with internal operations team to assure database remains available. Note: Systems, Network, and Data Center are not the responsibility of this position. These services are provided by ValueClick Corporate Operations Team. . Coordinate with operations team to expand storage as necessary. . Coordinate with operations team to expand system processing capabilities as necessary. . Provides troubleshooting problems and resolves issues including tuning processes. . Manages multiple databases backup and restore processes. . Perform database user audit and accounts management. . Assure database remains secure. Compliance . Assure SOX Programs is complete and being followed. . Assure Information Security Program is complete and being followed. Other . Support budgetary requirements. . Support ValueClick's corporate culture including adhering to established ethical standards . Other assignments and responsibilities as assigned by his/her supervisor.
Required Education and Experience . Development or similar experience in the live internet environment. . 10-15 years of progressive technical and personnel management responsibilities. . BS or Masters in Computer Science. . Must be located near the San Francisco Offices. . Flexible travel schedule, up to 10% of time. . Flexible and work hours, accept important calls 24 hours a day.
