Environmental Remediation Engineer
We have an immediate opportunity to join the Corporate/Enterprise Shared Services Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Team as an Environmental Remediation Engineer.
This position reports to the Corporate Director of Environmental Remediation. The incumbent will serve as a strategic business partner and consultant to support the Corporate Environmental Remediation Program.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the strategic planning and day-to-day operations of the Corporate Environmental Remediation Program.
- Developing and implementing environmental remediation program initiatives across the Corporate portfolio and the enterprise.
- Serving as task leader on environmental remediation project teams in helping to define strategy, working with consultants/contractors to implement project tasks, controlling costs, monitoring progress, and interfacing with regulatory agencies.
- Providing advice on environmental remediation activities, specifically on soil and groundwater contamination issues.
- Serving on multi-disciplinary teams to accomplish goals that foster efficiency and minimize the company's legal and financial liabilities.
- Serving as the construction manager on major field programs, as needed.
- Supporting the Corporate EHS Auditing Program by serving as a management systems auditor.
The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of EHS regulations, environmental remediation programs, project management, chemical/mechanical processes, financial tracking/reporting, agency negotiation, and cost controls. He/she must have the ability to drive change, lead cross-organizational activities, and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
Basic Qualifications • BS degree in engineering with a minimum of 5 years of working experience in the field of environmental remediation..
• Knowledge with CERCLA and RCRA laws and regulations, as they pertain to the management of Superfund and facility hazardous waste sites.
• Strong interpersonal skills, exceptional self-starter attitude, excellent facilitation skills, and the ability to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and be a strong presenter.
• Proven remediation savvy and knowledge, field operations and construction expertise, business/financial acumen, keen organizational skills, excellent problem solving ability, and seasoned customer service experience.
• Amenable to travel to various project locations across the country and, on occasion, overseas.
• Proficient MS Office products, and exceptionally skilled in computer systems.
Preferred Qualifications: • Professional certification
• Training in process management tools (Six Sigma, Lean, TQM) is a plus.
• Masters or advanced degree
