Location and team KEMA is seeking a researcher with experience in evaluation, market research, and customer behavioral research. Day-to-day tasks will involve designing and implementing telephone surveys and other customer data collection efforts as well as analyzing the results from these efforts. All projects are related to the energy utility industry, specifically in the areas of energy efficiency, demand side management, and renewable energy programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate relevant work experience, including the capacity to work independently and manage research activities effectively throughout the project life cycle.
This position is based out of our Fairfax, VA office.
Tasks may include
• Designing survey questionnaires, in-depth interview guides, and other quantitative/qualitative data collection instruments.
• Directing survey data analysis.
• Conducting in-depth interviews related to utility and energy efficiency issues with many types of respondents including architects, engineers, business owners, equipment manufacturers, contractors, utility staff, regulatory commission staff, and others.
• Designing and moderating focus groups.
• Developing sampling and weighting strategies for primary data collection.
• Managing internal staff and subcontractors responsible for collecting survey data.
• Other duties depending upon interest and capabilities.
What we're asking
• Masters degree in Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Sociology or related discipline (or Bachelor's degree with commensurate experience).
• Minimum of 5 years related experience, preferably in the energy sector.
• Strong quantitative skills; professional experience conducting statistical analysis in SAS, SPSS, or other statistical software preferred.
• Experience in designing and managing data collection projects.
• Demonstrated ability to manage time and workload effectively.
• Experience managing analysts and/or other support staff.
• Experience managing multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and oral English communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Other preferred experience includes the following:
o Conducting behavioral research;
o Working in a consulting environment ;
o Designing and conducting web-based surveys;
o Conducting advanced statistical analyses (e.g., multivariate analysis, regression modeling, etc.); and/or
o Conducting market potential studies.
