Salary:Based on Experience Duties and Responsibilities:Applied Research Associates, Inc., is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced individual in operations involving explosives use, handling, and safety procedures. The position is in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Air Base Technologies Division, Force Protection Branch, Security Technologies Group, located at Tyndall AFB, FL. Duties will involve interaction with Air Force military and civilians. Responsibilities will entail assisting in the preparation, synthesis, handling, testing, data collection, report writing, and detonating military, commercial, novel threat materials, improvised, and homemade flammable/explosive compounds/materials. Explosive safety data testing will include various equipment items to gather information on the sensitivity of these flammable/explosive compounds/materials when exposed to impact, friction and electrostatic discharge. Limited US travel may be involved. Job Requirements :
Position Requirements: * ARA, Engineering Science Division, is located on Tyndall Air Force Base and applicants must possess a valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and a current vehicle registration to gain access onto the base. * Licensed as an explosive user in the state of Florida or in possession of a diploma/certification from the US Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal and/or Hazardous Devices Course. * Applicants must be willing to work with military, commercial, novel threat materials, improvised, and homemade flammable/explosive compounds/materials and chemical precursors of the explosives. * Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Position Preferences: * Program management, military experience, previous work with military, commercial, novel threat materials, improvised, and homemade flammable/explosive compounds/materials and higher education are desirable and will be weighed in the selection process.
