Summary
Field Service technician performs field support activities which involve preventive and corrective maintenance, installation, modification, and disassembly/re-assembly of explosive detection and passenger screening equipment at airport locations within the United States and its territories. Technician conducts onsite maintenance and testing of equipment to ensure proper working order. Isolates equipment start-up malfunctions and takes corrective action. Selected candidate will possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities for effective utilization of apparatus and related equipment, utilizing proven troubleshooting processes and procedures. Must have knowledge of complex equipment operations and ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Prepares daily logs and reports on work performed. Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature where ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Interact on a daily basis with supervisors, peer groups, and/or customers. Must have knowledge of complex equipment operations and ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. A strong mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic aptitude is necessary.
Candidate will support Test and Evaluation Technical Services and will be responsible for specific portions of independent test and evaluation support services. Candidate will perform assigned technical tasks and activities in a timely manner and support written report preparation of work performed. General project activities include performing test and evaluation on checked baggage and passenger screening inspection systems as well as programs leading to new and enhanced technologies and systems for transportation security. Locations of testing include U.S. airports within the continental United States as well as those located in U.S. territories overseas.
Applicable technical areas can include non-intrusive inspection and associated scientific disciplines of systems test and evaluation, statistical analysis, physical security applications, command & control integration, human factors, operations research, training, and systems engineering. Candidate may be required to communicate test and evaluation findings, both orally and in written form and must have strong interpersonal and computer possession of a current DOD Secret Clearance and DHS Security Suitability clearance is desirable.

.Proficiency in Computer systems, .Power distribution knowledge, .Electrical, electro-mechanical and mechanical systems knowledge. .Audio Video and Fiber optic cable repair capability, .Fundamental system engineering concepts, .Able to perform detailed testing, disassembly, component level troubleshooting and repair of systems as required. .Knowledge of regulatory requirements (Federal and State Radiation performance standards, registration, Quality Systems Regulations, EPA and OSHA regulations), .Understanding of established quality and safety requirements (electrical & radiation safety, safe lifting practices, etc.) .Able to perform detailed testing, disassembly, component level troubleshooting and repair of systems as required .Must have proven meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills, good organizational skills and ability to self-direct and prioritize in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Education and/or Experience .High school education, Associates Degree, or equivalent, in electronic or related field and 6+ years of related experience
Computer Skills .Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications .Must be computer literate
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Clearance: .Must possess ability to obtain DHS/TSA suitability clearance, DOD Secret clearance, and airport level security clearance .Valid driver's license .Must possess or obtain current U.S. Passport
Work Environment .Travel to US or US Territory Airports is required. .Travel is expected to be 60% or higher
Physical Requirements: .Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. .May require 6-8 hours of standing daily .Must be able to walk several miles per day depending on assigned area of responsibility
