GENERAL MANAGER
Our client, a recently created division of a major manufacturer, proudly introduces many career opportunities. Located in Fort MacKay, Alberta, they are a leading edge heavy steel fabrication and equipment repair facility.
Reporting to the Vice President Operations, the General Manager is a hands-on entrepreneurial leader with a passion for innovative, strategic management and creative team leadership. Key functions include:
* Implement and sustain all aspects of an aggressive, multi year business plan; active participation in the identification of opportunities through to the design quoting and fabrication process;
* Facilitate, direct, and enable the company's penetration into the Oil Sands marketplace with an emphasis on securing and increasing market share;
* Actively manage the safety program;
* Effectively deploy all resources, ensuring timely delivery of quality products and services while maximizing business opportunities;
* Strategic and tactical leadership in the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies, processes and continuous improvement initiatives;
* Collaboration with the Director of Sales and Marketing to synchronize marketing, advertising, promotions, and sales efforts to effectively exceed customer's expectations;
* Facilitate, direct and enable the company's penetration into the oil sands marketplace with an emphasis on securing and growing market share;
* Coach and mentor a quality team of skills trade's people and professionals, motivating them to ensure our customer's success;
* Active participation in business/trade associations and the Fort McMurray community at large.
Qualifications:
A minimum of ten years directly related management experience in the heavy steel repair and/or heavy steel manufacturing industries combined with a bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred. Experience in welding and fabrication is a prerequisite. Equivalent combinations of experience and education will be considered. A hands on technically oriented leader with a willingness and ability to lead from both the shop floor and the front office.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivery, professionalism and innovative management practices, coupled with in-depth knowledge of welding and steel fabricating industry.
