Group Life Coordinator
Family Advocacy Services of Virginia (FAS VA) is a community-based mental health agency that provides a range of treatment programs to enhance the psychological and social functioning of at-risk children and their families. We offer therapeutic foster care with ""wrap-around"" support services for the child, and when possible for their biological family. We also offer intensive home based services to help families stabilize in an effort to prevent out of home placements or to enhance successful reunification. FAS joined The Network in December 2002. This position provides overall clinical direction and guidance to the Group Life Programs of Family Advocacy Services of Virginia. Key Responsibilities:
Overall management of the agency's Group Life Program (GLP)
Clinical and administrative supervision of all Group Life Staff
Conducts all Group Life clinical and administrative meetings
Coordinates the Group Life Programs component of all intakes, orientations and 30/90-day review meetings
Oversees the development and implementation of the GLP activities schedule
Monitors the Group Life Program component of the overall agency budget
Conducts or oversees job performance evaluations of all Group Life staff
Responsible for design and implementation of therapeutic training program for Group Life staff and other agency staff as relevant
Provide after hours on-call coverage on a rotating basis
Requirements:
Master's Degree in Social Work or related field and/or six (6) years experience in the provision of clinical and administrative services in the child welfare system
Two (2) years experience in a supervisory capacity
Two (2) years in an adolescent day treatment or therapeutic recreation program
Must have working knowledge of individual, group and family behaviors, the Juvenile Justice System and Foster Care System
Must have the ability to work effective with emotionally handicapped youth and their natural and/or foster families in various modalities
Valid driver's license and working automobile required
