Job Summary:
The Vision Sensors business unit is seeking a product development manager to lead a team of electrical, mechanical and systems engineers in developing new products from marketing requirements though to full production release. The products are embedded systems running on high performance, cost effective DSP devices with integrated imager sensors. Communications are typically Ethernet, USB or wireless connectivity into a large factory control system or PC interface. This position is a hands on engineering position where leadership also includes providing in depth technical guidance and input into the technical decision making process. Being a small team requires the manager to bring a diverse set of skills and experience that can be applied to optimize the product, the schedule and successful implementation. Interacting with upper management and handling larger responsibilities as a program manager and department manager are expected in the position.
Responsibilities:
* Provide technical input to guide the product definition and the product development particularly in product architectures, new technology and hardware design
* Directly manage electrical and mechanical engineers to develop products and solve product issues
* Troubleshoot technical problems as part of the team, optimize direct reports to be productive in development, and support critical customer issues.
* Coordinate with other groups to manage programs, complete developments, launch products, and transfer products to overseas mass production. Excellent communication skills are essential in this role.
* As required, run development programs and insure communications to the team and across the organization
* Provide input to department budgets and analyze spending on a regular basis. Stay focused and on top of product cost estimates and constantly be looking for ways to meet product goals at competitive costs.
* Provide regular feedback to employees, perform regularly scheduled performance reviews, and develop talent in the organizationQualifications:
* Be undaunted by challenging problems.
* BS/MS in Electrical Engineering
* Professional experience in developing embedded products and carrying them though an in depth qualification process and launching them into full production mode
* Experience and knowing what to do to successfully complete EMC certifications, safety compliance and factory environmental packaging of industrial products
* 10+ years of hardware design and development experience
* Experience in developing embedded products with either high performance DSP or ARM based processors
* 5+ years of engineering management in a fast paced high performance product development environment.
* 5+ year of direct supervision of an engineering team.
