Client Co., is a midstream pipeline and storage company. Co. Olefins (the “Company”) represents a group of assets initially established by Union Texas Petroleum (UTP) in 1967 to support its petrochemical activities in Louisiana. UTP expanded the assets significantly to provide logistics services to third-party petrochemical customers and eventually sold them to Williams Companies in 1999.
• In 2004 Co. and private equity firm LG acquired from Williams its Louisiana ethylene pipeline distribution system, underground storage operations at Choctaw and Sulphur, and propylene pipeline distribution system in the Geismar area. Simultaneously, the Company acquired from ExxonMobil an ethylene pipeline that connects to the former Williams system at Geismar and extends along the Mississippi River industrial corridor thus creating the most extensive ethylene pipeline distribution system in Louisiana, reaching more consumers of ethylene through direct connections than any other system.
• LG provided the equity capital for the initial acquisition of the assets from Williams in 2004. The Company has since invested approximately $300 million in expansion capital with plans to continue an aggressive expansion
• Currently, the Company's largest customer is British Gas. Additional customers include ExxonMobil, Dow, Lyondell, Westlake, BASF, Total, Williams, and Sasol.
The Company today is strictly a logistics business and has no commodity price exposure. The Company has recently completed a number of large expansion projects including a fractionator and underground storage facility in Lake Charles and a natural gas storage facility at its Choctaw site near Plaquemine, LA. In addition, the Company has immediate opportunities to expand its gas storage facilities.
• The Company's operations are situated in the Mississippi River corridor and Lake Charles, Louisiana - two strategically important petrochemical/industrial areas.
