Healthcare Business AnalystTitle: Healthcare Business Analyst Location: US-MI-Ann Arbor Other Locations: US-CO-Greenwood Village The consumer healthcare team within Thomson Healthcare is responsible for designing, developing, marketing and selling a suite of decision support tools to help consumers become healthier and make informed (and cost-effective) healthcare decisions. This position is responsible for the Business Analyst role for Thomson Healthcare's Treatment Cost Calculator solution. This offering is designed to help healthcare providers and consumers better understand the costs for specific conditions and treatments, in order to make informed decisions. In this internally and externally facing role, the Business Analyst is responsible for leading product definition, requirements, and overseeing and collaborating with the development, marketing and implementation teams to ensure a successful product launch and capture market share with this innovative solution.
Responsibilities: * Develop an in-depth understanding of the product and underlying models/methods. * Work closely with product management and product development to interview, research, analyze, and derive business, functional and technical requirements. * Clarify and translate market requirements into functional and non-functional specifications, and collaborate in the product development process. * Make important tradeoff recommendations between functionality, resources and timing. * Contribute, as required, to the "look" and "feel" of the product including screen design, on-line text, and/or graphical user interface (GUI) consistent with company standards. * Participate in the design and testing phases, including design and testing of prototypes and orchestration and sign-off on acceptance test results to ensure design integrity. * Have an understanding of the treatment cost estimator market. Understand the competitive landscape from a product functionality perspective. * Work to innovate and advance the models and methods used in the solution. * Collaborate with Operations and Account teams to understand documentation and training needs. Work with the appropriate teams to deliver the needed materials. * Communicate product capabilities and plans to sales and client services staff, development and support teams, and support product rollouts to the market. * Assist with implementations when needed. Gain an understanding of implementation issues and product improvement opportunities. * Provide sales support in key sales situations where subject matter expert is required. * Minimal travel for business development, sales, and customer visits (<10%). The Healthcare business of Thomson Reuters provides insights -- information, benchmarks and analysis -- that enable organizations to manage costs, improve performance and enhance the quality of healthcare. * Bachelor's degree. * Minimum 5 years experience in Business or Systems Analyst or related disciplines in the healthcare industry. * Ability to translate market and product requirements into clear, concise product design specifications. * Experience with Agile development methodologies or consumer-facing application development is highly desirable. * Ability to think analytically, define problems and frame solutions. * Ability to understand and interact with technically-oriented team members. * Ability to interact with internal and external customers to interpret product requirements. * Excellent written and oral communications skills. * Demonstrated soft skills, including experience in facilitation, diplomacy, and conflict resolution. * Ability to think creatively and to contribute to both strategic and tactical decisions. Also Preferred: * Experience in the treatment cost estimator tools space. * Experience working for a health plan. * Strong understanding of health plan's plan designs. * Familiarity with health care claims data and/or claims processing systems. * Aptitude to understand methodological and statistical underpinnings of the product. * Experience with consumer-facing applications and products.
