Maintenance ManagerESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare weekend work schedules ensuring that: - Necessary manpower has been allocated for the scheduled work. - Proper work orders and documentation are available for project implementation. - Necessary components are on hand to perform the scheduled projects. - The Supervisors on duty have a level of understanding necessary for project completion. - Necessary shutdown procedures will be implemented and that the appropriate equipment is trialed in order to ensure a smooth start up when production resumes. - Prepare shutdown work schedules ensuring that: - Performance of weekend work items as stated above. - Submit a daily shutdown report to the Superintendent. - Physically update the schedule on a daily basis. - Assume the lead role for the preventative maintenance program as follows: - Upgrade the existing program to ensure that the proper operations are being performed. - Ensure that the operation frequency is at a proper level. - Schedule adequate manpower to complete preventative maintenance operations a timely manner. - Monitor completed operations for suggestions or problems. - Assume the lead role in implementation of the 5 year preventative maintenance schedule. - Monitor, correct and improve the process arrangement, downtime and SOP's as they relate to models, mix, cycle time, job difficulty, scrap, equipment, and manpower to achieve and continuously improve upon production goals. - Collect, investigate, and analyze data using a variety of methods to implement countermeasures for quality production problems. - Monitor the status of all work orders and projects. - Be available and prepared for work at least 30 minutes before the shift starts in order to address manpower needs, equipment and miscellaneous "start-up" problems. Also be available as needed after the end of shift to properly follow-up on activities. - Communicate routine maintenance needs immediately, respond to breakdowns, assist manufacturing and maintenance personnel directly with recovery efforts and line re-start. - Build and encourage successful teams for production, QC, Kaizen, and other activities. Actively pursue their implementation according to the prescribed goals set forth by the section manager. - Monitor the work group for compliance with EEO, Title VII, other laws, contract provisions, and company policies to prevent harassment, discrimination or the creation of a hostile environment in the work place, as directed by the company. - Assist in correctly administrating the collective bargaining agreement including, but not limited to; compensation, overtime, transfers, problem resolution, PTO, Bargaining Unit work, etc. Document, counsel and take corrective action as appropriate to enforce the company Code of Conduct, Attendance Policy and other company rules, policies and procedures. - Assist in providing a safe work environment, including PPE, Hazwoper, MSDS, hearing conservation, Lockout/Tagout, Haz Com, ergonomics, confined space, robot training, and other health and safety issues. Make sure that monthly safety meetings are being conducted on a timely basis and that proper follow-up of safety concerns is done. - Use effective communication, interpersonal and leadership skills to promote positive group operations and relationships. - Maintain positive and cooperative relations with the union, other departments within the company, other groups within the department, and outside vendors as necessary to ensure efficient, safe and quality operations. - Rotate shifts with other Group Leaders on a periodic basis to ensure consistency in group operation and to maintain communication and familiarity with opposite shift Associates.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Conduct periodic meetings with Associates to ensure that information is formally passed on and that an open exchange of ideas and concepts is maintained. - Ensure that the proper level of housekeeping is maintained. - Keep subordinates informed about plans, activities, objectives, and progress toward goals. - Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management Supervision, or a related field from a four-year college or university; plus three years of industrial maintenance experience and at least one year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience is required. Experience in a high volume manufacturing environment is preferred. - Demonstrated ability to interact successfully and maintain strong relationships with the Union and company management is desired. - Strong equipment knowledge (Body shop equipment is desired) with an electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic background is required. - Experience with project planning and scheduling required. - Required personal computer skills include, but are not limited to: word processing, graphics, and spreadsheets.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Majority of time is spent in manufacturing plant environment. Potential exposure may include, but is not limited to: solvents, dusts, noise, heat, outside weather conditions, cramped spaces, and building construction areas. Potential physical demands include, but are not limited to: frequent walking and standing; occasional crawling, climbing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, lifting, carrying, handling, pushing, and pulling. - Minimal time is spent in a general office environment. Potential physical demands include, but are not limited to: minimal sitting, Potential sensory demands include, but are not limited to: hearing and seeing. - Occasional travel to domestic and international sites required.
