Reporting Relationship:
The Consultant is a full-time and permanent position. He/she will report to a Director in the Consumer & Shopper Insights(CSI) organization. The Director reports to a Vice President in CSI. The Vice President reports to the Senior Vice President in charge of the CSI practice for all of IRI's Strategic Accounts.
Responsibilities:
The Consultant will occupy a position central to the continuing transformation of IRI and its client base. More than a consumer panel role, the Consultant will have occasion to drive analysis melding multiple data types derived through multiple methods/sources create for their client, one of IRI's premier and most progressive strategic accounts, unparalleled actionable Insight that will have material impact on strategy.
While the Consultant's activities will vary, approximately 50% of the Consultant's time will be allocated to forming the in-depth analysis used to power client Insights and 30% will be allocated to intense project management to include substantive interaction with IRI's Global Operations Center(GOC) inBangalore,India. The Consultant position is a "roll-up-the-sleeves" and hands-on role relative to analysis and working with content streams. The Consultant's remaining time will involve partnering with their Director and the broader IRI client team to build client relationships and using their excellent consulting skills to proactively uncover client business issues(targeting root causes versus symptoms) and connecting the uncovered business issues with IRI solutions. He/she will also spend significant time responding to client requests in a timely, detailed and insightful manner. The Consultant will occupy a client-facing position.
The Consultant will work in the context of team revenue and profitability goals. While exceeding revenue and profitability targets is essential, success is equally measured by the extent to which the Consultant and the CSI team builds sustainable client partnerships based on trust and the extent to which he/she provides genuine consumer and shopper Insights that exceed client expectations.
The Consultant will be in the unique position to drive client Insight pulling from a large solution "tool-kit" including solutions built on IRI's revolutionary Liquid Data technology(ILD). He/she will leverage their analysis skills to contribute to Insight development that will impact client strategy across multiple functions including Market Research, Shopper Insights, Marketing and Sales. Key client business issues include: new product launch, private label development, consumer loyalty and penetration strategy into new channels.
While the Consultant will need to be self-directed, they cannot be self reliant. Building and collaborating across IRI functions will be critical to success. Key functional interface within IRI includes: Client Solutions, Technology, Consulting & Innovation, Modeling & Analytics Solutions and the broader CSI organization.
Current economic trends have given IRI an incredible opportunity to help clients position themselves for the post-crisis consumer landscape. The Consultant will be on the front-lines of this important work.
§ Five or more years of experience incorporating a working knowledge of household panel and broader Shopper Insights trends and methods. This experience may come from one or more of the environments below: o A quantitative market research provider o A qualitative market research supplier or survey house o On-line research supplier o CRM supplier § Capacity to assimilate multiple/diverse data types § Proven ability to self-start and drive initiatives with minimal direction; comfortable making sound decisions with 70% of the facts § Proven skills to connect analysis with broad client strategy and macro market conditions; keen intellectual yet pragmatic curiosity § Comprehension of the benefits, potential watch-outs and limits of various insights methodologies § A demonstrable grasp of basic panel measures § CPG domain experience. Category Management experience is a plus § Energetic and entrepreneurial style § Demonstrable project management and presentation skills § Proven ability to effectively self-prioritize goals/tasks and maintain focus in fast-changing, ambiguous environments § Demonstrated leadership acumen-for direct reports and cross-functional project teams § Undergraduate degree is required. Advanced degree is a plus § Must be willing to work in the West Suburbs on-site at least 3-4 days a week
