Manager of Financial Planning
Immediate need for Contract to Hire or Direct Hire Financial Planning Manager
Responsibilities * Manages the administration of the Cognos Enterprising Planning system for the budgeting and forecasting roll-up process. * Assesses best practices for the planning system and benchmarks against the industry to identify opportunities for improvement such as; system upgrades and modifications, to improve the efficiency of the Planning and Reporting process. * Improves reporting, analysis and data mining practices by implementing reporting and analysis (Cognos business intelligence) tools on a timely basis. * Conducts quarterly reviews with the System Administrator on Cognos security and conducts SOX testing. * Works with internal customers to modify planning models as needed to meet business needs; provides reporting as needed. * Reviews corporate budget and forecast P&Ls, including variances, on a monthly basis. * Reviews internal management schedules and statistical analysis (by trade, ship, month and voyage). * Attends monthly review, final close and forecast meetings. Ensures the final forecast/budget is correctly uploaded into Oracle and data warehouse. * Oversees workload and provides regular feedback, coaching and training for direct reports. * Manages strategic projects by identifying scope, statement of work, project timelines, and risks and opportunities while managing deadlines and milestones to ensure projects are delivered on schedule. * Develops a business reporting strategy to further automate and implement improved planning and analysis solutions.
Requirements * Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Accounting or equivalent work experience. * MBA and/or CPA and public accounting experience is a plus. * Six years of progressively responsible positions in corporate financial consolidation planning, analysis and systems including experience with data warehouse and dashboard reporting. * Demonstrated management and leadership experience in supervising staff. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to think critically and drive changes to build efficiencies. * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. * Proficiency in Cognos Enterprise Planning and Cognos Business Intelligence software or equivalent. * Knowledge of Oracle Schema is a plus.
