Executive Overview
HIDA’s Business Intelligence Services (BIS)supports HIDA distributors and HIDA Education Foundation Associates by developing unique market research and information that provides insight into customer markets with a discrete focus on the issues and challenges facing the distribution channel. You will work within this team of four, reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence. You will also collaborate closely with the Senior Manager of Business Intelligence (this group reports to the Vice President of Government Affairs).
In this newly developed role as Market Research Analyst, you will conduct industry specific research and analysis, primarily in the areas of acute care, physician, and extended care markets. You will work closely with your colleagues to develop annual market reports for the three key areas. Guided by the input and needs of the member-driven Advisory Council, you will manage the market report from start to finish, including editing and proofing, responding to questions and requests of the Advisory Council, and collaborating with HIDA’s Marketing, Member Relations and Government Affairs divisions.
In addition to the annual market reports, you will create a variety of industry specific tools and products, which include dashboards, market briefs, best practices, performance surveys, cross-market studies, and other specialized products. Coming in the door, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a newly created, high value deliverable that involves utilizing third party databases and developing highly customized reports for companies. You will create clear, concise reports and present the data in a variety of formats, from templates to highly customized products. The business intelligence that you provide gives our members the critical data they need, along with the ‘why this matters’ to their industry, that ultimately enables them to make vital business decisions.
Responsibilities of the Market Research Analyst (Business Intelligence Analyst)
In this role, you will: * Assist with creating product-specific analytic reports. * Contribute to HIDA’s three main annual signature market reports on physicians, extended care, and acute care markets. * Prepare reports. Manage development of reports to deadlines, including data collection, analysis, writing, and working with the marketing team on production and dissemination. * Develop innovations in data collection, content, display, production, and dissemination. * Support the Business Intelligence team with data collection, database management, online surveys, analysis of results, and report preparation. * Support other teams within HIDA (e.g., government affairs, marketing, membership and new product development) with information for their projects. * Respond to member requests for information and referrals. Experience and Requirementsas the Market Research Analyst (Business Intelligence Analyst) * Master’s degree required, preferably in a discipline where quantitative/analytics is emphasized (business administration, healthcare management or administration, healthcare IT, or other social science disciplines). * Three (3) or more years of postgraduate professional experience is desirable (preferably in a healthcare setting). * Solid proficiency in research project design, management, and implementation. * Strong writing skills are critical, coupled with the ability to present findings in different content formats, sizes, and venues. * Ability to distill complex statistics and business issues into accessible reports. Experience with quantitative research and data analytics. * Strong attention to detail in copy editing, database management, and report preparation. * A high degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (must be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Knowledge, use and understanding of large databases is helpful (we use SPSS and Tableau). * Previous exposure to healthcare and medical terminology. * Ability to travel twice a year for our annual meeting and spring meeting. * Ability to develop solid working relationships with internal team and members, advisory councils, etc. * Flexibility and appetite for work in a medium-sized nonprofit trader association within a strong, collaborative, small-team working environment. * Proven record of working independently and efficiently on multiple projects.
