Materials Manager (Sports Marketing/Retail)
In this position, you will be responsible for effectively managing the planning and acquisition of raw materials to support operations and product development processes. Oversees detailed planning and shop floor scheduling of finished goods according to the master schedule. Provides management and leadership to the factory Purchasing/Planning/Inventory team. Manages and monitors the purchase of fmaterials required for the manufacture of finished goods, including MRO supplies. Includes the analysis of MRP, purchase order placement and reschedules or expedites as required. Develops strategic sourcing initiatives and cost savings programs. Manages PPV and overall raw material inventory levels. Develops and maintains effective supplier relationships. Monitors supplier performance and quality. Supports corporate purchasing initiatives and acts as liaison between the Portland factory and Corporate headquarters.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Manage and monitor the purchase of all materials required to support production schedules. Plan material requirements for assigned categories using MRP system.
Purchases components, materials and supplies at the lowest possible cost consistent with accepted standards of quality and service within established time frames.
Drive cost reductions in order to optimize PPV. Monitor trends in prices, sources, market conditions, availability and recommend necessary action to ensure a continued flow of materials to meet production requirements and to estimate potential price impacts.
Establish optimum buying patterns and implement lean manufacturing concepts, such as Kanban systems, Vendor Managed Inventories and Blanket Purchase Orders/Contracts.
Develop strategic sourcing initiatives and cost savings programs to ensure a stable and viable supply chain including management of key supplier relationships.
Monitor and report the performance of all approved suppliers with regard to on-time deliveries and product quality in accordance with company policies and procedures. Determine risk level of suppliers and identify strategies to minimize that risk.
Direct project management activities at the Portland factory for major commodities, such as leather, encompassing resource management in materials and production.
Work with Product Development and Engineering on New Product Introductions (NPI). Manage materials sourcing and procurement of materials for NPI sample requests.
Establish annual purchasing standards for all raw materials.
Direct the Raw Materials Warehouse Supervisor to manage the transition of all raw materials from receipt to stock.
Administer procedures for the purchasing department, ensuring that purchasing procedures and activities are compliant with ISO, Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory standards. Manage the auditing of all suppliers with the QA Department to ensure that they are compliant with supplier qualification review procedures.
Responsible for overall RM inventory levels and disposition/management of obsolete and slow moving materials.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Access.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
5+ years experience in procurement or other experience related to contract negotiation, pricing, cost management, material planning, etc.
3-5 years progressive management growth.
Experience as a raw materials buyer required.
Experience with MRP required.
Solid understanding of material planning and scheduling methods.
Knowledge of industry supply chain best practices and innovations related to delivery performance, cost management, material handling and lead-time reduction.
CPIM/CPM certification preferred.
