Primary assignment will be working closely with engineers in the application of engineering principles to the C-17's Aircraft Systems, including Environmental, Pneumatic, Fuel, Mechanical Control, Landing Gear, Hydraulic, Fire Protection, Fuel Tank Inerting, and Oxygen in support of production and in-service aircraft and system design integrity. Areas of engineering support will include component and system requirements and design, troubleshooting / root cause analysis, and corrective action formulation to resolve production and in-service problems with the system and/or components.
The selected candidate will perform as a team member of the Mechanical & Fluid Systems organization and will require a close working relationship with C-17 customers, teaming partners, other engineers, field service representatives, production personnel, suppliers and subcontractors. Activities will be performed per organization and program standards and procedures, under the supervision of experienced engineers and management, but with relative freedom to learn and innovate.
The selected candidate will be tasked to develop solutions to technical problems of limited scope and impact; and to apply basic engineering and scientific principles. The selected candidate may be tasked to research, analyze, and verify product designs for adequacy, conformance and compliance to published requirements, and document results. Candidate will interface with other members of project and program teams, management and technical staff. This challenging engineering position is primarily organized to expose the successful candidate to the work structure of the Air Vehicle - Systems organization and its responsibilities to the C-17 program.
A successful candidate will possess technical and engineering skills developed and learned while attaining a Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline (BSME preferred) and the ability to analyze and develop solutions to technical problems while assisting more experienced engineers. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work in a team oriented environment and interact professionally with Customer, supplier, field and production representatives is a must. The candidate is expected to be dependable, innovative, and possess good problem solving skills (previous project management skills is a plus). The candidate should have demonstrated ""hands on"" capabilities in class projects and/or previous work experience or hobbies. The candidate should have demonstrated through past experience, his or her capability to work independently and possess perseverance to be able to eliminate roadblocks, to ""find a way.""
