Meetings & Events The ARF Meeting and Exposition Department manages key ARF events which are targeted to our members and others in the advertising and marketing research industries. The events provide cutting-edge industry education, forums, and networking which enhance the professional development of ARF members and move the industry forward. Important issues facing the industry are also examined in real time at ARF events. These events occur in major event venues in New York City, including auditoriums, theaters and large convention hotels. In its essence, it is industrial show business. Join the ARF Event team as a Meetings & Events intern and help the ARF prepare for these major events. This role will provide you with an opportunity to observe large event development and execution and to learn first hand what it takes to put on a first class convention and expo!In this role you will work directly with the VP, Director of Events, Sales Director and Webcasts & Events Manager to produce and manage ARF events. Primary Responsibilities: * Responsible for a wide range of duties in the Events Department. * Assists department director and managers to reconcile all supplier and miscellaneous bills. * Prepares letters, documents, and correspondence. * Maintains appropriate inventory of department/meeting supplies. * Maintains files; document archive management. * Preparation and fulfillment of large departmental mailings. * Processing of exhibit space contracts/correspondence. * Assists in management and execution of the David Ogilvy Awards Dinner * Preparation of on-site staff binder notebooks and Master Programs. * Assists ARF Registrar for registration activities as required. * Performs on-site show duties * Post -show database management/cleanup activity, including registration database clean-up. * Other related duties as required in office and on-site at show. Primary Skills: * Administrative/clerical skills are required * Database processing experience preferred * Fluent and accurate computer-use skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are necessary. * Must be energetic, detail-oriented and a team player. Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time. * Refined customer service skills necessary. * Good oral and written communication skills. * Outstanding organization and attention to detail * Ability to work both collaboratively and independently * Prefer those interested in marketing, registrations, exhibit sales and management and event management skill development Primary Benefits:The intern will gain exposure to real-world association management and event management techniques and operations, including on-site management of the event itself. Interactions with leading marketing and advertising leaders, ARF senior staff and interns will aid networking for the intern.
