Introduction The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Networked Sensors and Systems Analyst.
Responsibilities Develop and analyze algorithms and concepts for tracking, data association, sensor alignment, and decentralized control for netted sensor systems.
Model sensor and netted-sensor systems to analyze performance potential and evaluate system design impact of algorithms, communication systems, and future sensors.
Analyze system of systems performance in an integrated fire control context, evaluating impact to overall kill chain effectiveness of sensor capabilities, network capabilities, and system design.
Communicate technical results within APL, to sponsors, and to other technical organizations. Formally document and/or brief requirements, analyses, and development plans and work.
Qualifications Required: BS in EE, Mathematics, Physics, or comparable technical field. Strong analytical and applied mathematical skills. Strong personal communications skills. Must be able to perform effectively as part of a team.
Desired: MS in EE, Mathematics, Physics, or comparable technical field. Experience and background in some or all of the following: detection/estimation, applied mathematics, statistics, modeling and simulation, or controls. MATLAB, expertise and familiarity with C, C++, and Mathematica. Experience with algorithms for tracking, correlation, data association, sensor registration, Kalman filtering, data management and decentralized control. Knowledge of radar and antenna systems. Familiarity with combat systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Special Work Conditions Occasional travel to sponsor and contractor locations and test sites. Possible occasional support of test events involving extended hours and travel to test sites.
