HNTB currently has an exciting opportunity for aNew GraduateFinancial Associateto join theFinance Professional Development Programin our Kansas City, MOoffice.

The Finance Professional Development Program was designed to give new graduates a comprehensive look into a financial career. The program will provide as a sound learning environment, giving new graduates the opportunity to work for many areas within finance before moving into a more permanent role.
We’re actively seeking a new graduate to begin January 2012 with the following rotation:
* January 1st2012 – June 30th2012: Project Analyst Team.
* July 1st2012 – December 31st2012: Budget Team.
* January 1st2013 – June 30th2012: Finance Team or dual role with Accounting Team.
This schedule represents the most recent proposal and may be changed at anytime without notice. Following the 3 rotations, consideration for a more permanent role will be given. Factors to determine the team awarded will be dependent upon managers input, previous performance, and new graduate personal preference. No guarantee will be made as to the position offered or team assigned to.
Responsibilities:

Responsibilities for this person will range on basis of the financial team they support. These will include:
* Project analysis, coordination, accounting, and cash duties for an assigned project or projects.
* Preparation of Prime and Sub consultant Agreements and review of compensation (and payment) clauses, salary rates, and determining proper overhead rates.
* Timely reporting on issues affecting cash management and project performance.
* Accurate and timely completion of the office operating budget monthly close and department reporting requirements.
* Investing of excess cash or borrowing under the bank credit agreement as needed. Analyzes and reports to management regarding unanticipated fluctuations in cash balances or in the aggregate cash receipts or disbursements.
* Posting and reviewing account activity related to AR, AP and Payroll and determining what journal adjustments need to be recorded on a weekly, monthly, annual basis to ensure the financial statements present fairly the results of operations in accordance with GAAP.
* Maintaining updated balance sheet account reconciliations and an effective internal control environment.

First Rotation – Project Analyst Team
* Project revenue recognition
* Project costing
* Project forecasting
* Project profitability
* Business unit budgeting/forecasting
* Project administration (financial)
* Working capital management
* Balance sheets and GL management
* Accruals
* EVM calculation
* Contracting
Second Rotation – Budgeting
* Essbase – Budget reporting program
* Project Budget versus Office budgets and the operating plan
* Firm-wide Budget process – Historical data, Budget template, budget data flow from Essbase to GL
* Budget versus forecast
* Prepare/analyze Admin. Office budget
* Prepare office budget during forecasting
* Develop ad-hoc reports
* Monthly close process – System reconciliation between Essbase and GL/Project system, learn development of direct labor overhead rate
* FAR/CAS regulations – FAR OH rate for pricing versus OOB OH rate for costing, OH allocation for costing pool.
* Industry financial terms - , direct labor, earnings ratio, gross margin, net margin, net office overhead, time on job, cost to fee ratio, etc. and how these metrics impact profitability are used to monitor/manage performance
Third Rotation – Accounting and Finance
* TBD – Based on candidate skill and interests and organizational needs.
Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree required. Accounting, Finance, or Economics focus preferred. (Those graduating in May 2012 will be accepted).
* Financial internship experience preferred.
* Superior academic record and communication skills.
