The RN will servein a 73-bed full-service adult psychiatric s positionoffers comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and treatment programsin an environment of comfort, caring and privacy. The facility features comfortable patient rooms, a private dining roomand a specially designed occupational therapy department. The Pavilion uses a multidisciplinary approach to meet the needs of each patient. The professional staff understands that life's difficulties sometimes lead to anxiety, depression and emotional turmoil and offer understanding as well as professional and emotional support. Psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, activity therapists, and other staff members utilize broad-based therapy programs which include individual psychotherapy, medical management, educational groups for patients and families,occupational therapy, andappropriate discharge planning.
The Registered Nurse-Behavioral Healthassumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care members. Follows policies and procedures ofthe hospital. Participates in the Quality Improvement process and adheres toall standards of behavior.
The Behavioral Health RN manages the nursing care of patients in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The tasks and responsibilities include:
Performs initial and on-going physical and psychosocial assessment according to accepted standards of nursing practice.
Participates in treatment team conferences to assist in planning and revising goals, objectives and interventions appropriate to the age-related and problem-specific needs of each patient.
Implements nursing plan of care for assigned patients and conducts and/or co-leads group therapy sessions for patients.
Evaluates patient's response to interventions and revises nursing plan of care as needed.
Collaborates with the treatment team to revise goals, objectives and interventions appropriate to the changes in patient status.
Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
Instructs and educates patients and families.
Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Provides age and culturally appropriate care.
Orients and mentors new staff members.
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate's Degree (or Diploma) in Nursing is required; a current and clear Florida Registered Nurse license is required.
Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of behavioral healthexperience is preferred.
Skills/Abilities: Clinical, organizational, critical thinking, multi-tasking, and communication skills in a detail-oriented, customer-focused organization are required. Basic computer skills are required. Ability to maintain confidential information is required.
