Summary

Under the direction of the Houston Senior Regional Manager, the Operations Accountant will perform a variety of accounting and operations functions. Key responsibilities include operating results analysis, forecasting, collections and supporting the operational management teams in the Region. Duties will include month end closes including revenue and cost accruals, office administrative support, and coding of invoices for processing as well as responding to questions or requests from operations.

 

 Duties & Responsibilities:


* Coordinate Commercial Region operations with the shared service accounting functions performed at the Company's Cleveland, OH corporate headquarters.

* Design and/or maintain weekly/monthly tracking tools for labor, collections,  forecast accuracy, etc.

* Work with Commercial Region operations groups to prepare general ledger for month-end close, including reconciling and making adjustments, determining journal entries, assisting management with issues and problems, and evaluating variances from budget and prior month/expected balances.

* Maintain required timetable to complete month end activities, coordinate department compliance.

* Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts, processing accounts payable for payment by corporate headquarters.

* Assist in the development of internal controls and monitor them for compliance with appropriate controls.

* Monitor and ensure timely collections of all Commercial Region accounts receivable and meeting key DSO and  % past due benchmarks.

* Interact regularly with network of regional operations managers and regional Controller to ensure adequate financial support for the operating regions.

* Produce and distribute financial reports and budgets to the field operations.

* Ensure compliance with all company related policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, time and expense, capital expenditures, non-budgeted approvals etc.

* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret different types of correspondence.

* Ability to effectively respond to inquiries and complaints from external and internal sources.

* Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and solve problems.

* Ability to organize office operations including ordering supplies, handling office equipment issues and answering phones when needed.

* Perform other finance department functions and responsibilities as directed by Senior Regional Manager, Region Controller or Region President.


 

 


Experience and Skills:


Minimum Qualifications for Consideration:

·                   The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in accounting.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

·                   JD Edwards experience preferred, but not required.

·                   High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with normal activities.

·                   Strong level of interpersonal skills, tact, maturity and flexibility.

·                   Strong communication skills - both oral and written.

·                   Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives.

·                   Sense of urgency & ability to meet deadlines; self-directed.

·                   Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
