Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Be on Active medical staff at (our client) * Work in a collegial manner with all attending physicians, hospitalists, ER physicians and other providers to provide orthopedic consultations as requested. * Maintains proper working relationship with hospital departments, nursing staff and other employees with patient care as center of focus. * Follow accepted standard of care guidelines for orthopedic surgery. * Work with patients to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions including fractures by using corrective devices such as braces, pins, casts, and splints. * Able to diagnose the signs and symptoms of all musculoskeletal diseases and injuries perform or order all the appropriate diagnostic tests. * Familiar and accomplished at all orthopedic procedures. * Assess patient needs and guides the clinical team while managing treatment plan * Focus on patient quality care and outcomes. * Documents patient’s progress in the clinical record in addition to medication flow sheets according to established policy. Completes medication education and informed consent. * Understands and utilizes accepted medical documentation guidelines. * Documents all activities in the clinical record according to policy using approved forms. * Keeps documentation in clinic and hospital medical record up to date in timely manner. * Reviews the health assessment completed by nursing staff, obtains a past and current medical history. Initiates contact with Primary Care Physicians. * Serves as on-call for Emergency Room 7- 10 days per month; appoints a designee in the event of non-availability. Responsible for care of own patients. * Practices according to evidence-based practices and our client's Performance Improvement Protocols and Technical Assistance Documents as posted on our client's website. * Provides necessary information to clinical team regarding inpatient utilization. Utilizes appropriate medication based on best practices, in addition to appropriately completing required documentation for preauthorization of pharmacy services. * Participates in all Quality Improvement activities as required. * Identifies potential barriers to quality care and opportunities for improvement and reports them to the Assistant Vice President of Quality or other appropriate individual. * Performs specialized duties as required by special clinical situations or treatment populations consistent with license and scope of practice. * Participates in medical staff meetings and participates in all required site meetings; and participates in any meeting as requested by Chief of Staff, Employer, or Dept of Medicine Chairman. * Follows all policies and procedures. * In outpatient clinic practice, physician works with staff to maximize effectiveness of hours in clinic setting. Physician will make every effort to be on time and ready for clinic. * Establishes and works clinic schedule as agreed with practice administrator. * Assists clinic administrator with evaluation of direct clinical staff. Mentors staff and suggests improvements to benefit patient. * Completes and turns in professional charges in a timely manner. Clinic charges should be turned in no later than next business day. Hospital charges should be turned in within one week of encounter. * Attends monthly review of clinic charges, receipts, expenses and variances with (our client) Medical Group physicians and administrator to identify opportunities for improvement to the financial performance or outcomes. Production goal for practice encounters and surgical procedures would increase to a level at or above the 50th% of MGMA standards. * Be willing to serve community at large by providing free educational services regarding health matters on a periodic basis such as health fairs or speaking to support groups. * Maintains proper continuing medical education requirements for specialty. * Sets the proper tone and example for the clinic. * Protects image of hospital at all times.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Doctorate of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine with a specialty in Orthopedics. Completed Internal Medicine residency in theUnited States. Gastroenterology fellowship or equivalent would also be expected. Relevant Work Experience: Three (3) or more post-doctoral years’ experience
