Job Description
Please note this position is a 5 month contract:
Provide accurate and timely processing of National Canadian Payroll for approximately 1400 employees. Partner with Finance Canada, HR Canada and Canadian tax authorities to ensure payroll adheres to policies, is tax compliant, and books appropriately to the General Ledger accounts.
•Work with payroll administrator to ensure timely & accurate preparation of weekly Quebec payroll and national bi-weekly payroll. Balance and audit payroll dollars against like payroll.
•Process manual / off cycle pay as required.
•Process terminations ( ROE's and vacation pay and all other related activities)
•Work with payroll administrator to ensure timely & accurate preparation of GL journals related to payroll, as well as monthly reporting and remittances to government and tax agencies.
•Prepare and co-ordinate the all earnings uploads and benefit changes to PeopleSoft
•Establish and modify time entry rules in Kronos to adhere to policy and interface to PeopleSoft.
•Administer payroll requirements for employees on STD/LTD, maternity, compassionate care or parental leave.
•Balance and reconcile PeopleSoft payroll to JDE meeting SOX and audit requirements.
•Prepare and reconcile various payroll GL accounts and work with the Finance team to resolve issues related to the payroll journal entry
•Respond to various inquiries & request from employees HRDC & CRA. Work with the Human Resource team to review HR transactions and impact to payroll processing
•Provide administrative assistance to the Payroll Supervisor
•Implement Best Practice payroll processes.
•Administer the stock option and restricted stock units program through payroll
•Process monthly Bill Back process
•Work closely with external vendor to manage reporting and vendor payments relating to expats/inpats
•Implement procedures and internal controls to ensure accuracy & integrity of payroll, adhere to SOX requirements.
•Identify & Implement process changes to reduce transactional activities
•Prepare, co-ordinate & reconciliation of year end, including T4/T4A, RL-1, T4-NRA
•Assist with testing of tax upgrades, analyze impact to payroll and determine any communication needed.
•Assist with change management initiatives, system updates etc.
•Assist with special projects as assigned
Job Requirements
Education Level
Required:
•Enrolled in CPA Payroll certification program
•College level payroll courses Preferred:
•Completed levels 1&2, PCP certification Major Subjects / Specialties
