Plant OperatorTitle: Plant Operator
Location: VA-Richmond
PDS Tech is seeking a Plant Operator in the Richmond, VA area.
* Performs functions associated with direct labor manufacturing operations.
* Performs a wide variety of routine manufacturing functions in one or more of the following areas:
* Electronic or electro-mechanical assembly operations on assemblies or sub-assemblies
* The set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies
* Manufacturing equipment operation.
* Weigh, measure and check raw materials to ensure that batches manufactured contain proper ingredients in proper quantities
* Performs incoming, raw material and final mfg inspection and/or audits of quality control programs
* Set up, mix, receive, store and deliver and dispense production chemicals.
* Assists with routine repair and retest products.
* May assist with rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing.
* Assists with in-process tests (such as hardness, weight, variation, pH and moisture content) to ensure that batches meet specifications.
* Assists in resolving routine manufacturing related problems affecting daily operations.
* Performs the most complex and technically demanding work within area of specialization.
* Applies documented rules, past practices, or instruction on an independent level and recommends changes.
* Preempts potential problems and provides effective solutions in reaction to application of concepts, techniques, knowledge, or processes.
* May provide expert advice, training, and technical assistance to support staff and train lower level employees.
* Represents the organization as a prime internal contact and possibly a key external contact.
* In a shop floor environment, this position may be responsible for performing a wide variety of physical or administrative tasks involved with shipping, receiving, storing, crating, distributing, and otherwise handling materials, parts, supplies, assemblies, or other equipment.
* At times, this may involve lifting, stacking, or sorting, or require the use of equipment such as material dollies, platforms, fork lifts, pallets, or other heavy equipment.
* Occasional heavy lifting may be required.
* This position may also be performed in a manufacturing production clean room or semi-clean room environment where fine motor skills and hand and finger dexterity, acute vision, color differentiation in the set up and detailed maintenance and operation of laboratory apparatus is required.
* In both environments reading instructions, recording results and data, and inputting information into a computerized system is required.
* SHI: Current employees in Quality Control Inspector roles are required to partake in an annual hearing test.
*
Employees transfering, being promoted, or newly hired into the Quality Control Inspector roles will be required to take the hearing test prior to starting in the new role.
* The test will be administered by a third party vendor chosen by SHI and will be given at times/dates designated by SHI.
* This mandatory hearing test is necessary in order to ensure that the QC Inspector's hearing is adequate to complete the QC testing and deliver quality products to the customers.
