Director/VP of Product Management
Position Description
The Director/VP of Product Management will be a senior leader on our client's management team. The role, reporting to the CMO, will be a key company technical leader and evangelist, responsible for product success and execution. The position will gather and prioritize product and customer requirements, define the product vision, and work closely with engineering to deliver services that will bring new levels of functionality and innovation to the cloud hosting space. Equally important, this position includes working with Sales, Marketing and Customer Support to achieve product milestones.
Major Job Responsibilities
Drive strategy and vision of product development in alignment with the organizations goals. Lead cross-functional teams to translate business requirements and customer needs into a products best-in-class consumer experience. Direct and optimize product development, including the software architecture, design, user experience, integration, quality assurance and deployment of existing and new products Assist in completion of specifications requirements documentation for all product development activity. Own all product financial models to include delivering product margin targets. Collaborates with operations, technology and development teams to plan and launch projects on time, on budget and on spec Co-manage internal approvals/prioritization process for all new products. Rapidly develop expert knowledge of assigned product lines and competitive landscape. Collaborate closely with marketing team on messaging product rollouts. Recruits and develops effective and talented team with a focus on client delivery, collaboration, and integrity. Create and execute technical operating strategies that will support and align with the overall corporate vision and strategies. Ensure strong, positive management practices throughout group including collaboration, objective setting, succession planning, and career development
Professional Qualifications
BA/BS degree in Engineering, Business or Marketing; MBA preferred. The equivalent in experience and self-study may be substituted. Minimum of 8-10 years Business/Product Development experience, 5+ in a leadership capacity. Demonstrated product planning success in a multi-product, multi-channel environment Excellent analytic and strategic planning skills Significant experience working with cloud based services (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS) and recurring revenue models Strong Technical competencies and fluency (previous engineering experience a plus) Excellent data analysis skills Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle Strong time management and prioritization skills with a demonstrated ability to execute against multiple Strong communication and interpersonal skills; experience of writing recommendations, RFPs, and collaborating with company personnel including senior leadership on complex topics; make presentations to an internal audience and interacting positively with senior management. Ability to adjust to frequently changing priorities and fast-paced Internet environment Ability to keep credibility, relationships, and sound business judgment as their core focus A thorough understanding of technical and user experience issues typically found in a web based environment Be instrumental in prioritizing and coordinating features for deployment while constantly assessing decisions against customer value, business impact, and technical tradeoffs
