The Opportunity:Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Public Affairs Specialist. If you are looking for an opportunity to work for a stable, growing company then this position is for you!

* Coordinate all on-site visits for community and political visitors and press conferences, including setting up tours and preparing gifts for visitors.
* Coordinate SEL events space reservations, equipment needs, catering, set-up, tear down, shipping logistics, and all other details needed to ensure successful events.
* Research information for press releases and interviews with the press, and write draft press releases.
* Research and prepare draft presentations for community groups to be given by Director or President.
* Prepare brief summaries of newly introduced legislation and track legislative progress; assist in developing legislative and regulatory proposals.
* Manage projects as assigned.
* Assist with coordination of community advertising to enhance our visibility in the communities where we do business.
* Identify, measure, and improve area lifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
* Minimum 3 years communications, public relations, or related experience
* Excellent writing, proofreading, grammar, and communication skills
* Expertise with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
* Excellent organizational skills
* Must be self-motivated and able to work on projects independently, as well as with a team
* Background check results satisfactory to SEL
* Negative drug test result(s)Preferred Qualifications:
* Journalism, communications or public relations experience
