Overview:
The Senior Consultant- Literacy will provide content expertise to evaluation, research and program development projects including curriculum audits and school turnaround and transformation services; provide technical assistance and training to schools and districts in curriculum development, implementation, and assessment of student progress in literacy initiatives.

The position's primary office location is in Naperville.
This position will require up to 50% percent travel (local and national).

Responsibilities:
1. Manage medium to large projects and/or high-profile or high-risk projects, including tasks, timelines, deliverables, budgets, scope, resolving conflicts, and risk management
2. Lead project teams in the design and development of products and services to [support states, districts, and schools in their improvement or Afterschool] efforts
3. Consult with states, districts, and schools in designing, implementing, and evaluating [school reform or Afterschool] initiatives
4. Serve as primary client contact at state, agency, or district level
5. Cultivate and manage project level client relationships, serving as an advisor to key clients, helping them make decisions related to [district improvement or Afterschool], or other topics related to service delivery
6. Design and facilitate technical assistance and/or professional development sessions with state, district, and/or school staff
7. Review reports and other deliverables, including abstracts for materials selected for the literature and research databases as well as substantial research briefs and reports
8. Monitor, coordinate, and provide work direction to assigned project staff and/or subcontractors, including review of their work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to quality standards, policies, and procedures
9. Lead teams in writing proposals and/or grants and reports, including recommendations
10. Identify opportunities for Learning Point Associates to maintain credibility and presence in the field
11. Maintain Learning Point Associates' national visibility and presence in an area through media opportunities, conference presentations, and writing for refereed journals
12. Keep up with developments in area of content expertise by reading current journals, books, and magazine articles
13. Serve as a group liaison, as necessary, to link communication and information to all stakeholders internally
14. Serve as personnel supervisor, as necessary, including providing guidance and coaching related to job tasks, performance, and career development
15. Provide regular input, as needed, to Chief Officer or Director on project status, potential new project or service initiatives, and other critical issues related to business strategy
16. Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in an education-related program or equivalent experience
2. Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience at the district or state level in district and school improvement, Title I, and other federal and state programs and services
3. Ability to work with a variety of educational stakeholders and audiences at the district and state levels
4. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams; strong project management and staff supervision skills
5. Knowledge and experience with basic research and evaluation methodology, and the ability to conduct research on educational topics, including through the Internet
6. Strong written and oral communication skills, including presenting to and facilitating various-sized groups
7. Ability to work well independently and as a member of a project team
8. Demonstrated success in grant and proposal writing
9. Experience using project management tools and processes
10. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and proficiency navigating the Internet
11. Availability to travel locally and nationally
