Description Senior Director, Oncology Project Team Leaders Portfolio Management and Operations Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) This Senior Director role will serve as therapeutic head of the Oncology Project Team Leaders group in gRED. One of the major goals of gRED is to deliver first and best in class therapeutic molecules that are ready for pivotal clinical trials to the Late Stage organization. This position will report to the Vice President of gRED Portfolio Management and Operations (PM&O). PM&O functions include Project Team Leadership, Project Management, Portfolio Planning, and gRED Business Operations. The Senior Director of Oncology Project Team Leaders is a key leadership position with several major responsibilities: 1. Lead and manage gRED Oncology Project Teams Leaders (PTL) group Lead group of experienced Project Team Leaders with oversight of > 20 Oncology molecule teams in gRED Provide strategic guidance for Oncology PTLs and project teams from pre-IND to Phase III go - to meet or exceed portfolio goals and to enable successful global development and commercialization of gRED molecules Lead training and development for Oncology PTL group - in science, leadership, and strategic decision making Work with VP of PM&O and Immunology PTL group to set overall vision, mission, and goals for gRED PTL function Serve as senior Oncology PTL leader and point of contact for senior management at Genentech and for external stakeholders such as key opinion leaders and corporate alliance partners, as appropriate 2. Lead development and communication of Oncology portfolio strategies Lead and/or oversee Oncology portfolio strategies for gRED, in close partnership with gRED functions (Research, Clinical, Development Sciences) and Corporate/Global functions (Development, Manufacturing, Commercial). Lead one or more Oncology molecule teams in pre-IND to Phase III go, as appropriate Contribute to strategy and management of overall gRED portfolio, which also includes autoimmune, neurology, virology, and metabolic disease areas 3. Serve as a key member of the Management Team for gRED Portfolio Management and Operations: Lead or contribute to major department goals and initiatives in leadership development, portfolio/business process, skills training, and talent management. Partner closely with other PM&O functions, including Project Management, Portfolio Planning, and Business Operations, and with Corporate functions such as Finance, HR, Legal, and Investor Relations Represent PM&O mission and organization to other functions within and outside of gRED Requirements: -Advanced degree in life sciences or medicine is highly desirable. -Advanced business training or education is preferred. -Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Oncology drug development, including experience in global development, regulatory filings, and/or commercialization. -More than 10 years in leadership and management positions in drug development, including advanced skills in team leadership, strategic planning, alliance management, and talent management. -Strong decision making and analytical skills are required, including experience in portfolio strategy. -Experience in building a strong functional group, leading initiatives, and partnering with multiple functions in a matrix environment. -Proactive and constructive in identifying opportunities and solving problems. -Excellent communication and influencing skills. Proven ability to work with executive management.
