Overview:
The Senior Internal Auditor will be responsible for performing a blend of financial and operational audits, ad hoc projects, and investigations for all lines of business. This person will ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate policies, adherence to SOX controls, and act as a liaison with both corporate and external audit. This role will also work closely with a Senior Accountant to assist with month-end close activities, as well as assist with the annual capital plan. This position will report to the VP Accounting and Facilities.
Key Accountabilities:
Interview process owners and perform and document reviews of selected areas of the business in order to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the operations internal controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley related controls.
Perform audits/special assignments that review procedures and controls over financial and operation systems to ensure the company is effectively utilizing and controlling its assets, and adhering to company policies and procedures.
Create reports of audit findings and make recommendations to senior management for corrective action.
Act as a liaison with both corporate internal audit and external audit firm.
Partner with a Senior Accountant to assist with month end close activities including processing accrual requests, prepaid expense accounting, processing intra-divisional and inter-divisional expense transfers and accurate posting of journal vouchers.
Partner with the VP Accounting & Facilities to monitor and provide periodic reports on the annual capital plan.
Position will be based in San Francisco, with occasional travel to the New York office. Travel will be minimal, less than 15%.
Skills Summary:
BA/BS Degree Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
3 years of prior audit or related experience required.
PC experience with Excel and Windows.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail, with ability to work under minimal supervision.
Knowledge or experience in major retail control functions or an in-depth knowledge of the department store industry is preferred.
CIA/CPA preferred.
