Job Description
Work with brand and mature products marketing teams to develop strategic plans and brand messaging and then drive implementation of tactics to best support established marketing objectives. Direct professional relations' efforts that position Baxter Specialty Pharmaceutical U.S. Region franchise as a leader in the anesthesia and critical care communities; this includes promotional education opportunities, public relations and sponsorship opportunities to promote and enhance the image of Specialty Pharma with key associations, and strategic direction for trade show activities while ensuring full compliance with Baxter product advertising & promotion policies, medical education guidelines, and Healthcare Fraud & Abuse Control/International Interactions procedures.
•Direct all marketing communications activities for Specialty Pharma U.S. Region franchise commercial marketing; serve as an extension of product management team to further enhance brand value for customers through various tactical programs.
•Oversee the execution and implementation of required Standard Operating Procedures to ensure compliance with FDA advertising and promotional guidelines Healthcare Fraud & Abuse Compliance (HFAC, Materials approvals, Annual audits, Field compliance, etc.), Review and resolve non compliance, in partnership with HR and legal counsel as necessary.
•Secure, develop and maintain relationships with key domestic associations and educational foundations to solidify and enhance Baxter's identity in target market.
•Direct external agency activities related promotional campaigns. Ensuring the implementation and proper handling of corporate branding guidelines/SOPs for the development of all promotional material. Act as the final review for materials between the brand teams, agencies and print vendors.
•Develop and maintain relationships with key Key Opinion Leaders (KOL's) within anesthesia & critical care specialty.
•Direct and oversee the implementation of national speakers' bureau, including strategic direction for the managing agency and maintaining regulatory compliance throughout the execution of the annual program plan.
•Develop opportunities for education programs to be held at key national customer meetings.
•Identify and develop strategic sponsorship opportunities with key anesthesia, pharmacy and hospital based associations and provide justification for support to management.
•Responsible for management of marketing communications team members; assigning key projects; balancing workload; assisting in setting performance objectives, conducting mid and year-end performance reviews; ensuring awareness of the regulatory climate Baxter operates; mandating the completion of compliance training and knowledge of Baxter policies; reinforcing compliant behavior.
•Manage and be responsible for departmental budget and quarterly forecasts.
Job Requirements
Advertising / promotional experience is required with an understanding of adherence to SOP's audits, negotiation with multiple functions to get promotional pieces through system and the guardrails of the Pharma/Advamed code.
Experience mix of professional relations, corporate communications, professional education programs, advertising and convention management.
Strong knowledge of FDA regulations with regard to advertising, education, Health Care Provider (HCP) interactions, Healthcare Fraud & Abuse Compliance (HFAC) and electronic media.
•Bachelor's degree required. Masters degree is a plus. Five to eight years marketing communications expertise is preferred.
•Ability to partner with Market Managers, National Accounts Directors and Sales team to develop programs that meet internally defined objectives and then communicate, execute and summarize the results of the program.
•Must have creative technical expertise to develop the communication products highlighted above. Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work on a product with a single focus with little direction. Ability to apply collateral to different media. Advertising agency experience is preferred.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated strong writing skills.
•Strong production management, project management and budget management experience is essential.
•Knowledge and experience with FDA promotional materials compliance requirements is strongly preferred.
•Travel: Less than 10%
